Victoria | Rachelle Marie Lefevre

The Character

Name: Victoria

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Knows Where Safe Places Are

About Them: A red-haired, feline-like vampire, Victoria, is originally a member of James' coven. She plays a small role in assisting James, her lover and coven leader, in hunting Bella Swan due to his fantasies. Victoria is capable of digging up information on anybody and in anyway. After James is killed, she decides to exact revenge on Edward Cullen by plotting to kill his partner, Bella, in return for Edward having killed her partner. However, Bella is sufficiently protected from her wrath by the Quileute werewolves. About a year later, Victoria creates an army of bloodthirsty newborn vampires in Seattle to rise up against the combined forces of the werewolves and Cullen family. During this battle, both she and her new fighting partner, Riley, are destroyed by Edward and the young werewolf Seth Clearwater. Her supernatural talent is an ability to know the safe place to escape to. Always aware and cunning makes Victoria lethal in her own right.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about Victoria prior to Twilight. How and when she became a vampire is a mystery and how she ended up in James’ coven is left up to our imagination.

Actor Biography

Height: 5’ 6”

Hair: Long curly red hair

Eye Color: Blue

Fun Fact: Rachelle is fluent in both English and French

Hometown(s): Montreal, Quebec, Canada; West Hollywood, California

Career: Rachelle Lefevre first made her television debut in 1999 in Big Wolf on Campus for 22 episodes. Since then she has guest appeared for numerous television shows including The Hunger, Bliss, Undressed, Charmed, Bones, The Class, How I Met Your Mother, CSI: NY, and Boston Legal. Rachelle has also acted in several TV movies such as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, See Jane Date, The Legend of Butch and Sundance, Pool Guys, and Picking Up and Dropping Off. Her repertoire for major motion picture films is Stardom, Dead Awake, Hatley High, Noel, The River King, Prom Wars, and Twilight. Her upcoming appearances include New Moon and American Summer.

About Them: Rachelle Marie Lefevre was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to her father who is an English teacher, and her mother, who is a psychologist. Rachelle was raised with her three sisters. After high school Rachelle studied creative arts at Dawson College and she also studied theater for two summers at the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts. She then began a degree in education and literature at McGill University. While working as a waitress at a sushi bar in Westmount, a regular customer helped her get an audition for a television sitcom. Rachelle didn't land the part but got a call back from the casting director, leading to a role in the Canadian television series Big Wolf on Campus in 1999, and simultaneously Rachelle finished her degree at McGill, attending semesters between shoots. Gary Oldman in Dracula is her favorite on screen vampire. "It's not my favorite vampire movie, but he's definitely the sexiest, most intense Dracula." Favorite actresses include: Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Katharine Hepburn, Meryl Streep and Laura Linney. Favorite music includes: David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Chapman, Patti Griffin, and The Dixie Chicks. Rachelle does confirm that she is in a relationship: "I'm not single. Not married, but definitely not available!"

Quick Quote: "Someone on the internet wrote how I was taking myself very seriously, how I thought I was a method actor. Now, I did watch lion attacks on YouTube. And this was because Stephenie (Meyer) used the word "feline" to describe Victoria as being agile. So what am I gonna do? I'm going to watch cats, because that's the word Stephenie used, feline. Because I've established that I'm not the most graceful person, when I say I acted like a cat I don't mean I was drinking milk out of a plate. I didn't want to feel like a fool doing all these vampire movements, so I wanted to put it in my body. It was like a theater-school exercise. But I'm glad that I did it. Though maybe I'm not glad I told people."

James | Cam Joslin Gigandet

The Character

Name: James Witherdale

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Tracker

About Them: James Whitherdale is depicted as a merciless "tracker" vampire who hunts human beings just for the sport of it. Fellow coven member Laurent says that James is unusually gifted at what he does (tracking) and always gets what he wants and Laurent hasn’t seen anything like him in his 300 years. Unlike the vegetarian Cullen family, James drinks human blood as his food source. At the end of Twilight, James is dismembered by Emmett and Jasper and set on fire (thus permanently destroyed) after luring Bella to an empty ballet studio and nearly killing her. The shimmery scar left by his venomous bite still remains on Bella's wrist as a symbol of his unsuccessful attempt on her life. James is described as having light brown hair and being quite unremarkable and average-looking.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about James’ past until later in the saga when it is revealed that a then-human Alice Cullen escaped his clutches some time ago by being turned into a vampire before James could attack. Apparently Bella was not the first human to make James go into a frenzy.

Confidence For All Doubters

Kristen Stewart as Bella SwanKristen Stewart talked to MTV reporters at the Sundance Film Festival and answered some New Moon questions that Twilighters are all buzzing about. She displayed genuine confidence in new director Chris Weitz, concern over the film becoming a living nightmare machine, awe over Taylor Lautner's transformation, and sympathy for Robert Pattinson having to deal with being away from home while dealing with his new fame. Below are some excerpts from the interview:

[...]' Regardless of her excitement, however, the always-frank Stewart admitted that the film's fast turnaround, higher visibility and directorial change still needs to serve as a caution to the "Twilight" crew. "It's such a machine now. All of a sudden, this movie has become [something bigger]," she explained. "With all the expectations — usually, you make a movie and think, 'If it touches people, great; if it doesn't, then you move on to the next one, and no one's personally affected by it.' [But] everyone's really sensitive with any changes right now.

"Everyone needs to be on the same page to make the same movie [as the original 'Twilight' was]," she said of the upcoming "New Moon" shoot. "Or else it will be a very disoriented project."
One of the most dangerous changes in the eyes of many fans has been the swapping of directors, from Catherine Hardwicke to "The Golden Compass" director Chris Weitz. Stewart, however, is one of the few actors from the film who has actually met with Weitz, and she told us that her fears have been put to rest.

"Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted," she explained. "And he's very clearly not doing the movie just because it's the next big thing. He really likes it a lot."
Another concern in Stewart's mind over the past few weeks had been which actor will play the pivotal role of Jacob Black — and whether she and this mystery man would be able to establish the same sort of chemistry that she had with Robert Pattinson in "Twilight." Now that Taylor Lautner has been re-cast in the role, however, she's convinced that they can make it work.
"Yeah, absolutely," Stewart said. "I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him! I didn't understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it's set, we can all rest.

"He's really buff!" she exclaimed of Lautner, who's packed on nearly 30 pounds of muscle so far to prepare for Jacob's werewolf growth spurt. "He definitely is. It took him a lot of time."
And although she may be with Jacob for much of the upcoming film, Bella could never forget her Edward. So, appropriately enough, the famous-since-she-was-12 actress was also eager to heap some praise on Robert Pattinson — who has spent the past three months dealing with an onslaught of paparazzi, wild fans and rapidly increasing fame unlike anything Hollywood has seen in quite some time.

"I think he's OK," KStew said of RPattz. "He's back in London now, which makes it easier for him. It's funny. It only affects you when you come to something like [Sundance Film Festival]. And then, other than that, he's totally the same guy he always was." '

In a separate interview Robert Pattinson amidst that he is homesick admits all of the new wave of obsessive followers. While not planning on permanently settling in Los Angeles, he has had to rent an apartment due to his schedule for New Moon and he terribly misses his companion dog, Patty. Dealing with his new fame is a slight challenge for the somewhat shy introvert and it seems to be almost overwhelming:

' "I miss the smell of London ... I almost cried because I missed it so much. And I miss my dog [Patty, a female West Highland white terrier]," so he reveals, adding, "I miss being able to go for a walk."

Speaking of his current residence, Pattinson says he stays in Los Angeles, but has not yet decided to permanently settle in the city. "I haven't moved to L.A. for good. I live in a rented apartment where all of the furniture is rented," he openly admits.'

America or America?

America YoungRumors have been flying around like crazy that America Ferrera, from Ugly Betty, has auditioned for the role of Emily Young in New Moon. However, controversy has surrounded the quotes and talks that supposedly where from and about America Ferrera. It is now cleared up that it was not Ferrera but America Young, the Native American actress, that has auditioned for the role of Emily Young. Emily Young is Sam Uley's fiancee whom he imprints on after he becomes a werewolf. Emily Young is Leah Clearwater's (Sam Uley's high school sweetheart) second cousin and their once close relationship is strained after the involuntary imprinting by SAmerica Ferrera Fereraam. Now that that is all cleared up it is easy to see how the mistake of the wrong America happened. America Ferrera seems to just be the first "America" actress that comes to people's mind-so that when they don't read tags correctly they miss seeing the "Young" at the end of the tag. Best of luck is wished to American Young as she continues down the auditioning road.

The Glory of a Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun Cover TwilightI recently started finding out information about Midnight Sun, the novel many anticipated to be release by Stephenie Meyer from Edward’s perspective of Twilight, and have found a treasure. While a partial rough draft was unintentionally released without Meyer’s permission, Meyer’s has gone ahead and herself allowed readers to see the unedited draft of the book.

Yes, the book is still on hold indefinitely, however, I do believe with in a few years, it will be published. Stephenie Meyer will not be able to resist writing Edward’s story; and the pain from having her work misused will fade with time.

Below is some of the excerpts from Stephenie’s last post about Midnight Sun at StephenieMeyer.com:

“As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher.

[…] I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control.

So where does this leave
Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

[…] But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here. This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest. I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the Twilight story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place.

I do want to take a moment and thank the wonderful fans who have been so supportive of me over the past three years. I cannot begin to tell you how much each of you means to me. I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be. After this incredibly busy year, I am now focusing on spending more time with my family and working on some other writing projects.

--Stephenie”

Here
is the link to the about 300 pages of Midnight Sun that have been drafted. Again, in regards to Stephenie’s rights as the author, please do not do any illegal distribution and the like with the manuscript. And maybe one day, we will be able to enjoy the entirety of Midnight Sun.

I myself have read this draft of Midnight Sun and I was in awe. There is so much clarity given to the whole saga even in just this draft. Now we can understand what goes on in Edward’s head, the Cullen household, and why life for all of them is such a struggle. When/if published, Midnight Sun I do believe will out sell the other Twilight Saga books.

Until that day, enjoy the rough draft!

Bella Swan | Kristen Jaymes Stewart

The Character

Name: Bella Swan

Type: Human-later Vampire

Special Ability: Shields herself and others from mental attacks

About Them: Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan, later Isabella Marie Cullen, is an average, clumsy, accident-prone girl who moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to Forks, Washington, to live with her father, Charlie. Though many boys are attracted to her when she arrives, she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious boy she discovers to be a vampire. Desperate not to lose him, Bella vows to stay with Edward, even if it means turning into a vampire herself, despite Edward's wishes. In an effort to keep her safe, he leaves the town of Forks. Jacob Black, a werewolf from the Quileute tribe and the son of Bella's father's best friend, comforts her in that time and Bella falls in love with him as well.

Bella is described as an understanding, caring, serious, shy, and intelligent person, with a very dry sense of humor, and is noted for being very clumsy, and also stubborn. She has a very private mind, which is thought to be why Edward is unable to see her thoughts, and she is determined to become a vampire. She is also said to be terrible at lying, but occasionally demonstrates good acting ability. Bella becomes faint at the smell of blood, though this does not bother her once she becomes a vampire — this trait may also be the reason why Bella does not hunger for blood as strongly as most newborn vampires.

After Bella is changed into a vampire by Edward Cullen in Breaking Dawn, she becomes very beautiful-her already pale skin becoming even whiter, her hair becoming darker, and her lips becoming fuller. After her transformation she has the ability to shield her and others' minds from mental attacks. With her newfound ability, it is also discovered that Bella is incredibly self-controlled, much to the astonishment of the whole Cullen family-mostly Jasper. Bella learns to remove the shield from her own mind with the help of Kate, another vampire, and surprises Edward one night with all of her thoughts he has always missed out on.

Bella is described in the novels as being pale-skinned with brown hair and eyes, and a heart shaped face. Beyond this, a detailed description of her appearance is never given in the series. Stephenie Meyer explains that she "left out a detailed description of Bella in the book so that the reader could more easily step into her shoes." While Meyer stresses that "Bella's looks are open to interpretation", she does supply her own personal interpretation on her website, describing Bella as: "very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and more straight than they are arched. She's five foot four inches tall, slender but not at all muscular, and weighs about 115 pounds. She has stubby fingernails because she has a nervous habit of biting them." Stephenie Meyer has stated that Bella's "tragic flaw" in Eclipse is her lack of self-knowledge. After being turned into a vampire, she describes having a more clear view of the world.

Their Early History: Due to being human, there is no past for Bella Swan. Only the future lies ahead of her.

Actor Biography

Name: Kristen Jaymes StewartKristen Stewart Twilight

Nick Name(s): Kris, KStew

Date of Birth: April 9th 1990

Height: 5’6”

Hair: Long Brunette

Eye Color: Green

Fun Fact: Kristen got a record player for her birthday because of her love for classic rock.

Hometown(s): Los Angeles, California; Colorado

Career: Kristen Stewart started off her acting career with a bang after an agent saw her perform in a school Christmas show at eight years old. She landed the major role of Jodie Foster’s diabetic daughter in Panic Room. The film was a success and Stewart got noticed for her performance. She then was caste in Cold Creek Manor, however the film was not a big hit at the box office. Next she played the lead in the kids-comedy Catch that Kid! and was a success for the younger crowd. One of her most memorable films is Speak where Kristen played a young teenage girl who after being raped stops all verbal contact with those around her. Kristen received high praise for her performance even though she had only a few speaking lines, but kept up a dark-witted commentary inside her head throughout the film. She then landed several other roles in various films including Zathura, Fierce People, and In the Land of Women all which received mixed reviews and success. She got back on track with Into the Wild with her sturdy superb performance as Tracy, a teenage singer with a crush on a young adventurer. Since then her other films include Adventure Land, Jumper, and Twilight, where she plays clumsy, recluse Bella Swan. Her next roles include New Moon, K-11, and The Runaways.

About Them: Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to her father, John Stewart, who is a stage manager and television producer who works for Fox and her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, who is a scriptwriter who came from Sydney, Australia. My mom's from there.” Stewart is very close friends with her Twilight co-star Nikki Reed. Kristen loves to surf and has three dogs: Oz, a border collie mix, Jack and Lily who are mutts. She also owns a cat named 'Jella'. She has appeared in a commercial for Porsche-ironic from the standpoint of Twilight. Although born in LA, she was raised during some of her early years in Colorado. She greatly admires actor Heath Ledger and actress Evan Rachel Wood. Kristen’s favorite book is East of Eden by John Steinbeck. She wants to go to college to major in literature. Kristen is ranked #8 in AIM's 100 Celebs Under 25. Her favorite horror movie is The Shining.

Quick Quote: (about her love for acting) “I love it because I love to tell stories. I like being in movies that have a great story. I'm not so interested in being a Hollywood star. It's a job, you know. When you wake up at six in the morning every day for a week, it feels like hard work.”

Edward Cullen | Robert Thomas Pattinson

The Character

Name: Edward Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Hears the thoughts of others-with the exception of Bella Swan

About Them: Edward is known for being charming, polite, determined, and very stubborn. He is very protective over Bella and puts her safety, humanity, and welfare before anything else. He often over-analyzes situations and has a tendency to overreact-especially in situations where Bella's safety is at risk. He often uses outdated speech and grammar from his human life in the early 20th century. Edward is impossibly beautiful. His skin is "like marble"—very pale, ice cold, and sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight. His facial features are perfect and angular—high cheekbones, strong jawline, a straight nose, and full lips. His hair, which is always messy, retains the unusual bronze shade that he inherited in from his biological mother. His eyes, once green, are now described as gold.

Edward has certain unique abilities that are his alone. He is the fastest of the Cullens-able to outrun any of them and almost any other vampire alive. Perhaps as a result of a talent for empathy in his human life, Edward can now also read the mind of anyone within a few miles of himself; Bella is the sole exception to this rule, which Meyer has stated is due to Bella having a very private mind. Edward finds it very frustrating to not be able to read Bella’s thoughts; however, Bella prizes it very highly.

Edward is musical as he is able to play the piano like it is second nature. He enjoys a wide range of music, including classical, jazz, progressive metal, alternative rock, and punk rock, but dislikes country. He prefers indie rock to mainstream, and appreciates rock and classical music equally. He mentions in Twilight that he likes music from the fifties better than the sixties, dislikes the seventies, and says the eighties were "bearable." Edward also composes music and Esme always brightens up whenever she hears Edward playing or composing. In Twilight we hear of Esme’s favorite composition and the new song he composes for Bella: Bella’s Lullaby.

Edward has the expensive hobby of collecting cars. He owns a Volvo S60 R and an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish as a "special occasion" car. He also gives his sister, Alice, a Porsche 911 Turbo as a gift in Eclipse for holding Bella hostage while he was gone. He bought a motorcycle to ride alongside Bella, but gave it to Jasper after he realized that riding motorcycles was a hobby she enjoyed sharing with Jacob.

Their Early History: Edward Cullen, originally born Edward Anthony Masen, was actually born on June 20, 1901 in Chicago Illinois. He is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, the adopted brother of Rosalie, Emmett, Alice and Jasper, and the husband of Bella Swan. While dying of the Spanish influenza in 1918, Edward was changed into a vampire by Dr. Carlisle Cullen after Edward's mother, Elizabeth, begged him to save Edward as her dying wish. Carlisle instilled in him a sense of morality uncommon in most vampires, and central to his way of life is the refusal to consider humans as food. Being a stubborn person, Edward often struggles with himself and the way of life he leads during his younger years as a vampire. Carlisle had faith and love beyond measure with Edward however, and let him leave every time Edward decided to run off. In the end, Edward accepted who he was, and stayed with Carlisle as the family grew.

Actor Biography

Nick Name(s): Rob, Rpattz, Spunk Ransom

Height: 6’1”

Hair: Light Brown

Eye Color: Blue-Grey

Fun Fact: According to Robert, he has a terrible memory.

Hometown(s): London, England

He stated that "when I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool. Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modeling career." However, his acting career has already had far more success than his modeling career. He started off with a supporting role in Vanity Fair, while his scenes did not make the theater version, his scenes did appear on the DVD. He next played the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Next to Twilight it is one of the roles he is most remembered for. When in Rome...

Rome Italy New MoonNew Moon, Twilight's sequel, will take a globe-trotting stop in Volterra, Italy in order to visit the ancient Volturi vampires that live there. (Including Dakota Fanning, perhaps). But the question remains: where will the movie actually film the Italian segments? So far, the information we’ve gathered indicates that the filming locations are Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Rome, Italy.

But why Rome? Sarah Braasch relates her travels to Volterra with this press release from a “Volturi spokeswoman." Please note that this is a joke... There is no such place as Volterra, no matter how much Twilighters beg and plead:

Volturi spokeswoman Heidi explained, “Why go anywhere else? Why recreate Volterra when you can have Volterra? When we heard that Summit was considering shooting in Rome in lieu of Volterra, we knew that we had to do something. We wanted to show them just how beautiful, cool, photogenic, and atmospheric Volterra is. There is no replacement. And, we know that the Twilight fandom will agree."

Jacob Black | Taylor Daniel Lautner

The Character

Name: Jacob Black

Type: Human/Werewolf

Special Ability: None unique only to Jacob except those abilities that are common to werewolves: telepathy with his pack, delayed aging, advanced healing, senses, endurance, durability & strength.

About Them: Jacob Black is Bella's best friend from New Moon and on. He is a Quileute Native American and a werewolf-although later revealed to be a shape-shifter as he doesn't transform on the full moon. In Twilight, Jacob plays a minor role, being a forgotten childhood friend of Bella's. In an attempt to learn more about Cullens, Bella flirts with Jacob, and he tells her tribe legends about them being "the cold ones", or vampires. After Edward leaves Bella in New Moon, Bella spends much of her time with Jacob, trying to heal her broken heart and move on. Though at first only a friend, Jacob later falls in love with Bella. Although he spends most of his time in Eclipse trying to win Bella, but it proves to only create more tensions in their already fragile relationship. In Breaking Dawn he imprints —an involuntary process in which a werewolf finds their soul mate— on Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee. Bella is furious a Jacob for imprinting, but comes to terms with it towards the end of the book. Known for his tall stature-which escalates after his transformation-and dark good looks, Jacob easily is a charm and comfort to Bella when she has to deal with her loss of Edward in New Moon. Jacob is sensitive and compassionate, which allows him to fall for Bella. As a werewolf Jacob grows quickly passing the Alpha, Sam Uley, which brings to the readers attention that Jacob is the true blood Alpha. Jacob, however, does not want this responsibility until Bella's life is in danger due to a decision made by Sam in Breaking Dawn. As a wolf Jacob's coat is a rusty brown.

Their Early History:
Werewolves in the Twilight universe do not age, as long as they regularly phase into wolves. They heal quickly, have enhanced physical speed and strength, and can communicate telepathically with each other while in their wolf forms. It is later revealed that the Quileute tribe "werewolves" are not true werewolves because they don't transform according to the lunar cycle. Instead, they are shape-shifters who take the form of wolves, while the "Children of the Moon" were considered true werewolves.

Carlisle Cullen | Peter Facinelli

The Character

Name: Carlisle Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Carlisle Cullen, born Stregoni Benefici, is Esme's husband and the adoptive father of Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Carlisle whose physical age is twenty-three and he is described as looking like a model. He has blond hair, stands at 6’2” and is slender but muscular. Carlisle theorizes that when a human is turned into a vampire, they will have an enhanced ability from their previous life. So according to his theory Carlisle believes he brought compassion from his human life. Carlisle has had centuries to perfect his medicinal talents, therefore making him an excellent doctor. Unlike most vampires, he is not at all tempted by the scent of human blood, due to the over 300 years he has spent holding back his temptations. While Carlisle has no special ability, he is able to have serious self-control and can hardly smell the scent of human blood while he is working. Throughout the Twilight saga, Carlisle works as a doctor, acting as the coven leader and offering medical advice and help whenever Bella is in need.

Their Early History: Carlisle Cullen was born in 1640’s and was the son of an Anglican pastor in London, England during a time of religious upheaval. His father and other pastors would hunt down creatures such as witches, werewolves, and vampires, and often mistook humans for them. As his father aged, Carlisle was put in charge. One night, he was attacked by a vampire and left to die on the streets. Knowing he would not be accepted by society, he hid himself and silently went through the painful transformation, emerging as a vampire. Horrified, he tried various methods of killing himself, but nothing worked. One night, he could endure hunger no longer and fed on a group of passing deer. Subsequently realizing that he did not have to live off humans, he set out to perfect his resistance to blood lust and become a doctor. For a short time, Carlisle lived with the Volturi, though he eventually left and traveled to the New World.

While treating patients with the Spanish Influenza, he met a woman who begged him to do whatever he could to save her son, Edward. Out of loneliness, Carlisle transformed him into a vampire and Edward became his companion. In 1921, Carlisle moved to Wisconsin where he treated Esme after a failed suicide attempt brought on by the loss of her infant son. Carlisle felt compelled to save her life and subsequently fell in love with her. Carlisle then transformed Rosalie Hale, a young woman who was almost killed by her drunken fiancĂ© and his friends in Rochester, New York, and left in the street to die. While hunting, Rosalie later found a young man named Emmett who had been mauled by a bear, and carried him over 100 miles to Carlisle. Carlisle then changed Emmett, since Rosalie was unwilling to do it herself for fear of blood lust overwhelming her. After Carlisle changed Emmett, Carlisle and his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, where they made a treaty with the Quileute Native American tribe. The treaty stated that the Quileutes would leave the Cullens alone if the Cullen family did not bite any humans or trespass on their land. The Cullens agreed to this treaty, and lived in relative peace until they had to move on. Between the Cullen’s first and second stay in Forks, Alice and Jasper joined his coven as well, having found Carlisle on their own.

About Them: Born Rosalie Lillian Hale, Rosalie Hale is the adopted daughter of Esme and Carlisle Cullen, adoptive sister of Edward, Alice, and Jasper, and wife of Emmett. Rosalie throughout the books acts as the sister of Jasper and that they are Esme’s niece and nephew. Gorgeous even compared to other vampires, Rosalie acts and looks like a model. She is mean to Bella due to jealousy of her being human, and not wanting Bella to choose a life as a vampire. Rosalie is known for being vain and self centered. She wishes to be human and have children so much so that she would give up her immortality and beauty for it. Rosalie eventually warms up to Bella and wishes to reveal her past to Bella with the hopes that she will choose to stay human. She also joins the fight against a group of savage newborn vampires. With her new bond with Bella, Bella contacts Rosalie after finding out she is pregnant, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children. Rosalie stays by Bella's side throughout the pregnancy, defending her choice to keep the baby, and Rosalie acts as a guardian to the child, Renesmee, taking care of her while Bella is going through her transformation into a vampire.

Their Early History: Frozen at age eighteen and born in 1915 in Rochester, New York, Rosalie was the daughter of a banker. Tall, statuesque, and has long, wavy blonde hair, Rosalie is described as being the most beautiful person in the world. As a human, Rosalie was a woman who had beauty, elegance, class, and eyes resembling violets. A quick engagement with Royce King II led Rosalie to become extremely envious of her good friend Vera and her baby boy. While visiting them one night she noticed that she did not share the same relationship with Royce as Vera did with her husband. But on her walk home and Rosalie met an intoxicated Royce with his friends. Royce bragged about his fiancée's beauty, leading to her being beaten, presumably raped, and left to die. Carlisle came across her as he was a doctor in Rochester at the time and decided to change her into a vampire (hoping she would be a mate for Edward). After her transformation, she tortured and killed those who had beaten her, including Royce, but did not drink their blood.

Hometown(s): Culver City, California; Los Angeles, California; New York City, New York

Career: Nikki Reed did not intend to start acting but was thrown into the acting world by Catherine Hardwicke, Nikki’s father’s girlfriend as the time. She hit Hollywood big time when at fourteen she collaborated with Catherine Hardwicke to write the script of Thirteen in six days. Nikki eventually claimed the lead role and the movie was a success which gave her credit as a lead actress and a screenwriter. However, most critics agree that her next big role as Mini in Mini’s First Time is her most distinctive role. Through it, she gained even more recognition. Nikki Reed next landed the role of Rosalie Hale in Hardwicke’s Twilight which again thrust her into big time Hollywood. Some worry at Reed’s choices of roles that she plays, as she tends to pick up roles that portray sexy, flirtatious, and sexually promiscuous women and doesn’t seem to branch out farther than those. Yet, her popularity grows and her next appearances include: Chain Letter, Privileged, Last Day of Summer, and New Moon.

About Them: Nikki’s childhood was rough and full of hard times. Her parents divorced when she was two and she spent the vast majority of her time living with her mother. Her mother was a hairdresser of mixed Italian and Cherokee Indian descent and her father a self-made art movie director. Through her father’s relationship with Hardwicke, Nikki Reed had a ready available spot in Hollywood. But before she realized her love of acting, Nikki went through a stage of rebellion against her mother and the relationship became strained when Reed experimented with drugs, alcohol, and sex. At the age of fourteen, Reed was emancipated; she then moved out and began living on her own. Unable to deal the stress of normal high school after the filming of Thirteen, Reed continued her education by homeschooling herself so that she could earn her high school diploma. Now days Nikki loves to spend time with her dogs and horses and splitting her time between Los Angeles and NYC. She is close friends with Evan Rachel Wood, and Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Reed is still writing screenplays and she advocates young girls to watch out how they idolize actress, models, and celebrities. She warns that personal hair and clothing stylists and make-up artists is what makes their idols gorgeous, so beware comparing yourself to them. And if all the teams of people fail to make them look good, Photoshop can.

Quick Quote: “I think my mother is my biggest influence. There are so many things I hate about her but at the same time I’m thankful for her. All I know is that when I’m a parent I want to be just like my mom. I can talk to my mom more than any of my friends could talk to their parents.”
