Rob Surprises MTV Fanatic And Gets Down on One Knee

Laura Culpepper had the pleasure of meeting Robert Pattinson not once, but TWICE! And the first time they meet he gets down on bended knee?! It's a truly hilarious moment! This is a clip from MTV NEWS: New Moon Revealed that aired this month on the 16th.

Here's that footage from Laura and Rob's second meeting - this time it was an interview.

New 'Breaking Dawn' Info

Via KStew411's twitter, they provided some news on Breaking Dawn in regards to the greenlinght that we are still anticipating and the time in which filming will start:
Everyone wants to know about the greenlight, and someone whispered my way a couple issues holding it up. One is that Summit would like to be able to provide some info for the fans beyond just, "Yes, we're doing it," so they are trying to organize some logistics first. Not a huge surprise there, but it is kind of considerate of them.

Another squeaky cog is Rob and Kristen's filming schedules for next year. Unbound Captives hasn't set Rob's shooting schedule just yet and as Summit will accomodate him, they would like to know when he'll be available for Breaking Dawn. That could be the difference between a May and September start date.

But the big mystery is Kristen. There's a project out there in nebulous stages which she may or may not be campaigning for. It shouldn't be a big deal to work both of them out, should she in fact get the other project, but Summit is trying to get a clearer picture of their lead's availability before setting a schedule for Breaking Dawn.

There are a million moving pieces to this, but Summit is doing their best to accomodate their leads, which they haven't always done in the past (hello, Parts Per Billion).
(Side notes: Unbound Captives is an upcoming film that Rob has in the works and it is set to also star Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz and Parts Per Billion was an indie flick that Rob had to drop out of due to conflicting scheduling with New Moon)

Thank you KStew411!!!

Taylor's Q&A with Rolling Stone Magazine

If you haven't picked up the December issue of Rolling Stone yet then what are you waiting for?! Taylor Lauter is on the cover and looking oh-so-hot as he shows off his playful side on a beach in LA - sexy and shirtless.

Here's a bonus Q&A with Taylor that Rolling Stone has featured on their website that you won't find in the issue.

Don't you think that when some fans see New Moon, they may be disappointed, because you're kind of the villain in a way.
I have some pretty passionate team Jacob fans [laughs].

Right. But you're also the obstacle getting in the way of the great romance between Bella and Edward.
I can see where you're coming from. The thing is, Jacob and Edward are two completely different guys. They are opposites. And it's just what kind of girl you are. If you like that more mysterious, dangerous type, then that's one guy. I personally love Jacob and Bella's relationship, and how they began as friends. They are so much more open, and can tell each other anything. And Bella and Edward's relationship, it's always tense. It's always serious. But Jacob and Bella's friendship starts growing stronger and stronger and you just wonder if they can go past friends. It looks like that at some points.

But when your character hangs up on Edward in New Moon, it sets off the whole chain of events that almost lead to a major tragedy. That's something a villain would do.
Yes. that is part of Jacob's character. He can't really control himself. When he gets mad, he gets mad. And all Jacob has on his mind is on Bella. That's who he cares for. That's who he loves. If somebody gets in his way, it's not good. And he will explode. So I guess you could see that either way.

And then Bella is always lying to Edward so she can see you. This is supposed to be like true love forever, so why can't she just be honest?
You know, she's serious with Edward and then she meets best friend Jacob. She gets confused.

But you're not really her friend. You have an agenda with her, and you're always making snide comments about Edward.
If I was Jacob, and I feel like I have lived as him, it gets so annoying. Because she's in the car with you one moment, about ready to kiss you and then she leaves and is with Edward. And then she's back with you, you know.

Then she even says she loves you.
That's why Eclipse was actually my favorite of the series. It's the height of the love triangle. I think it's going to be good. That tent scene is the biggest thing possible. She's cold and I'm hot, so [since vampires are cold], are you going to let me crawl in the sleeping bag with her, or are you just going to let her die?

That's what I mean. Why don't you be like, "You guys stay there. I will get you an extra blanket so you can stay warm?" Or, "I'll turn into a wolf and go skin some animals and make you a blanket."
No, no, no. Oh my.

That said, I understand the book's appeal: it's a great fantasy for someone to have two powerful good-looking guys who can have anybody fighting over her. It's a classic romance, with fangs and fur heightening it.
Definitely. And I admit proudly that I enjoyed the series. I was not a book reader at all. But then when I read them, they hook you. I feel like each book, and more so the movies, are just getting more exciting and better and better. With New Moon, you know, it's not just the love story between these two anymore. Now there are three people, and it's dangerous.

But when you're reading the book, aren't you sometimes thinking, "Come on, when is there going to be some action?"
It's a tease.

Why do you think Jacob and Edward likes Bella so much?
Because she's different, meaning she's more of the plain Jane type. You know, she's not fake. I know that attracts me too. Just somebody who is down to earth and themselves. I mean, apparently Edward likes her smell. But Jacob's relationship with her is — Jacob has just always liked her. They used to be friends because their fathers are best friends. And he's just always had a crush on her since he was a kid. Now they are getting to that stage where things can start

What do you think of the whole part about Jacob's "brother" imprinting on a two-year-old and falling in love with her, then keeping her around until she's of proper age? Isn't that a little weird?
Yeah, yeah. Let's not go there.

Rob & The Most Romantic Thing He's Done

Rob Pattinson
Rob Pattinson dishes on working with New Moon director Chris Weitz and gets personal with his tender side. Want to know if Rob is a romantic? What is the sweetest thing he's ever done? This is one of the sweetest interviews I have ever seen of Rob, everybody go "Awwwwww!!"

MTV:
Tell us about working with Chris Weitz. What were your thoughts when you first received his now-famous "orientation guide"?
Robert Pattinson: When he gave that out, it was such [a surprise]; I mean, I'd never had that from any director. It was 40, 50 pages long, this thing. And this is in addition to a bunch of letters and e-mails and everything [he had sent the cast], trying to show that he's on the same page as us and he's completely with us in making the film. And he didn't falter from that attitude throughout the whole movie. It probably sounds ridiculous how much praise this guy gets. I was just with his wife and him in Japan, and she was even sick of it! But he is like a saint. He's one of the best people I've ever met, let alone directors. I think in a lot of ways that shows in the movie — it's got a lot of heart.

MTV: Since you're only in parts of the film, did you feel disjointed from your castmates? Did you wish Edward was in "New Moon" more?
Pattinson: Those [hallucination] scenes were the hardest scenes. They weren't really at the time, but when I saw the first cut of the movie, I was like, [we need to re-do this]; we've changed them quite a bit in the edit and ADR, mainly because it's so difficult. It's not Edward who you're playing, it's a manifestation of Bella's loneliness and desperation. That was always very difficult — I was trying to ask Kristen, "How would you play it?" As for being alone, I think I've always felt a little bit aloof as the character throughout the whole series. I think that's how he is.

MTV: But do you appreciate Edward more with each movie?
Pattinson: It's funny, because when I read "New Moon," it gave me ideas about how to play him in the first one. It's the one I connected to the most, and the one that humanized Edward for me the most. In the first one, he remains from beginning to end an idealistic character; in the second one, he makes a mistake that's acknowledged by everybody, including himself. He's totally undermined by more powerful creatures, and he's undermined emotionally by people as well. I think that's what humanized it.

MTV: Are you a romantic person in real life?
Pattinson: I haven't done that many romantic things in my life ... I like the romantic scenes. I felt like a lot of the story line in "New Moon" is very heartbreaking and true. And I didn't think I was doing something just for the sake of romance. In a lot of ways, it's a very sad story. Hmmm ... what's the most romantic thing I've ever done?

MTV: Have you ever serenaded anybody?
Pattinson: Oh no [laughs]. I don't think that would ever be romantic. You have to have so much balls to do that. I actually can't think of the most romantic thing I've ever done. I put a flower in someone's locker when I was 15 years old, this girl Maria. Maybe I was 14. Anyway, she thought it was somebody else. And the other guy claimed it [was him], which was great.

Ashley Greene Interview with EW

Ashley Greene
EW just sat down and had a chat with the gorgeous Ashley Greene about New Moon, fame, and a director for Breaking Dawn. Not sure what I think of her pick for director. While I admire his films, I do not know if I would choose him for the Twilight Saga. Wonder who I'm talking about? Well, read the interview!

Are the reactions to Twilight the same all around the country?

I was impressed in Chicago, actually. Chicago was really, really intense and loud and I think it was one of the bigger responses that we had. But there’s always a lot of people, a lot of passion, a lot of screaming, a lot of crying. So really it’s all measured in terms of how deep the screaming goes.

Was it much different than last year?
I guess it’s more intense. I’m much more comfortable with this whole thing. I didn’t really know what to expect at all when I first got into it. It was my first gig, and so it was a little crazy and I was really nervous. And so now you know the fans are there because they love you and they support you.

What was your most memorable fan encounter?
I’ve had a couple people make me scrapbooks, and that’s kind of an incredible thing because I’m in a midst of this whirlwind right now so there are a lot of things that I miss because we’re in this Twilight bubble and it’s just go go go. So probably a year after this is all done, we can sit back and look at the scope of it. So it’s nice for them to put a collection of my career and what I’ve been going through together. That’s really special.

Why do you think fans are so obsessed?
I think with vampires, you can’t really go wrong. For generations, vampires have been a hit because they’re unobtainable, mysterious, sensual, dangerous, kind of sexy. Then Stephanie Meyer added a Romeo-and-Juliet love story to this fantasy world. Edward happens to be a vampire but he’s very much that gentleman who opens doors and says everything a girl wants to hear and he’s basically the epitome of perfection. And then you have Bella, this normal, everyday girl, which a lot of us are, and she steals this vampire’s heart. So everyone wants their Edward and everyone wants to be Bella.

How has playing Alice Cullen changed your career?
I didn’t really have a career! So that’s how it changed. But now I’m doing what I want and I know I’m going to continue to work. This is it; this is the rest of my life. I can walk into rooms and talk to directors and producers that I couldn’t get into their doors before. And I can actually sit down and speak to them like a human being and not be terrified of them. That, and of course, the fact that people care what kind of coffee I drink and who I’m dating and where I’m going. Nobody knew my name before and nobody cared and then all of a sudden in a course of a year, everything has changed.

And what is the downside?
The only downside is when people stop realizing you are human and you’re not perfect. But it’s part of the territory and I wouldn’t trade it.

What was your first reaction to New Moon?
The tone, the color schemes, and the warmth of it is beautiful. I think [director] Chris Weitz did a really fantastic job. And then after seeing Taylor [Lautner], I was really impressed. I mean, he’s a 17-year-old kid and he committed and gained 30 pounds and transformed into a completely different person than he was in the first one. He carried this film, and I think that’s a hard thing to do, especially when you’re up against this character Edward. It’s a lot to live up to, and I think he did it justice and he did a fantastic job.

What was your favorite scene to film?
Going to Italy and being part of the Volturi scene was great. Dakota Fanning is fantastic. I was watching her movies before I was even acting. And I got to work with Michael Sheen and he’s an incredible, phenomenal actor and it was great to be able to learn from him and watch him do the scene and watch how it translates to the screen.

He gives that scene a lot of gravitas.
It was so easy for him. He controls the scene. I haven’t worked with an actor of that caliber yet who can do something like that. It was really cool to see.

Who’s your closest friend in the cast?
Kellan Lutz. We’ve been friends for about five years, before this whole Twilight thing even happened. We had the same agent starting out so we’ve basically been friends since we both moved to L.A. We’re together 12 hours a day, every day for like three months at a time.

Is there a role out there you’d really like to play?
I would have loved to do Alice in Wonderland. Being a Bond girl would always be fun. We had a lot of action in Eclipse and I’d definitely like to continue down the action road. I want to do a romantic period piece, but those are really hard to get made because they’re very expensive and there’s not a huge demographic. And far, far down the road, probably when I’m in my 30s, I would love to play a North Country/Erin Brockovich type of a role like Charlize [Theron] and Julia Roberts did because they’re inspirational and they’re about very strong women that changed basically the course of history. That would be a really fun role to play, they really affect people. That’s one of the bigger benefits of acting, that you get to affect people.

If you could pick the director to helm Breaking Dawn, who would it be?
I just went to MoMA [NYC's Museum of Modern Art] and they were honoring Tim Burton, and I saw a whole compilation of his films and artwork and I just think he’s an extraordinary artist. I think it’d be really cool to have his spin on it, because it’s a very odd book, there’s some very weird moments. He would actually put a really weird and cool twist on it. And if we could do it the right way, it’d be great to have two films. You definitely want to get all the important parts in there and you know how hardcore and passionate the fans are about it, so one might be difficult and there would be something left out. So if we could do it right, it’d be great to have two films.

5 Facts About What You Can Expect From 'Eclipse'

Rotten Tomatoes talked to the cast of The Twilight Saga during their New Moon press tour and got the low-down on what we can expect with the release of Eclipse on June 30, 2010. Here are five things to keep the anticipation going!:

Fact #1: It's Darker
The brand new poster for Eclipse hints at a darker tone with its brooding storm clouds. With 30 Days of Night director David Slade at the helm, it's unsurprising. "Every movie is different because we work with a different director on each one, which I love," Taylor Lautner tells RT. "David Slade is perfect for the third film because it's darker. Eclipse was my favourite book."

Ashley Greene, who plays vampire Alice, tells RT that Slade isn't just a prince of darkness. "David is actually hysterical," she laughs, "He has such a dry sense of humour that sometimes you don't know if he's kidding or not. Eclipse will be amazing because he has made it far edgier and more dramatic. It's going to look very cool."

Fact #2: There Will Be Less "Love Story" and More "War"
"Eclipse isn't as intimate as Twilight or New Moon," Robert Pattinson explains to us. "We're at war, so I get to interact with more characters, not just Kristen. You'll also find out more about the other members of the Cullen family. It just feels bigger." But -- fear not, Twihards -- that isn't to say the love story is cast aside altogether. "New Moon set up a love triangle with Bella, Edward and Jacob," says Lautner. "So we explore that further in Eclipse. It's a tough situation for all of them because Bella is torn between two guys, Jacob can't get the girl that he loves and then there's Edward, with all of his issues."

Fact #3: The Werewolves Will Crank Up the Sex Appeal
"We all know the appeal of the vampire family," says Nikki Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie. "But the werewolf boys are on a whole different level. They interact with a youthful, playful, comfortable warmth. It's very sexy."

As for Pattinson, he admits that his personal jealousy about Taylor Lautner's newly-ripped physique actually comes in handy for the role. "In Eclipse, Taylor and I have lots of scenes together where we have to be jealous and petty with each other," he says. "So it helps that I actually do feel inadequate when I see his body, especially because he's younger than me. He fulfills every criteria of what teenage girls want, physically, in a guy. I felt like a had to prove myself against him."

Fact #4: There's More Action
"Filming Eclipse actually changed my life," says Nikki Reed of the arduous training regime the cast had to endure. "I have never been so fit -- this is the first time in my life I have actually had a bicep. It's bizarre to compare how we look now to how we all looked in the first movie. The entire cast turned up on set for Eclipse looking super-buff."

New cast member Bryce Dallas Howard tried to play a prank on the crew during one stunt, but she didn't count on Pattinson's awkwardness. "We had a fight scene where Bryce had to grab my hair," he laughs. "So she took a clump of hair from my stunt double's wig and was going to pretend she had pulled it from my head. She told me to scream and storm off set, but it was so embarrassing. She had this huge clump of hair in her hand, and I was like 'oww,' really unconvincingly."

While the rest of the cast were having fun with stunts, spare a thought for poor Taylor Lautner. "Eclipse is a lot more physical for my character," he explains, "but any time I have any kind of action, I'm a wolf, so it's all done with CGI. It's a bummer."

Fact #5: The Ending Will Be Nicely Set Up For a Fourth - And Perhaps Fifth - Film
There are four books in The Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. But Ashley Greene gave RT the strongest indication yet that there might be five films. "We have finished filming Eclipse and one would assume that, if New Moon does as well as Twilight, then we'll start filming Breaking Dawn next year," she says.

"The only thing is, Breaking Dawn is a very large book so it would be a really long movie. We're thinking they might decide to split it into two parts, like they did with Harry Potter. Either way, we need to get on with shooting them because, unlike Harry Potter, vampires don't age. So we all need to look the same!"

How Long Will 'Eclipse' Run?

With Eclipse coming out in a short 7 months, often the question is asked, "How long is Eclipse?" We hope to answer that in the following article:

While New Moon only just graced the big screens last week, Twi hards are eagerly awaiting the 3rd installment of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse. While Twilight ran a total of 122 minutes, New Moon ran only 8 minutes longer at 130 minutes. For such a detailed saga (similar to Lord of the Rings) these movies need more time. I don't know about you all, but I am willing to sit for longer, even 3 hours wouldn't make me flinch. We expected Chris Weitz with New Moon to be willing to make a longer movie, as he needed to properly do several "legs" and fix issues from Twilight, however, he kept that 2 hours as his limit as well.

David Slade, director of Eclipse, needs to take several things as well, into consideration about Eclipse (and be willing to make it longer!) to get us back on track with the saga. Some of the things needed to be kept in mind are:

1) There is more of a focus on the supernatural elements of vampires and werewolves. It is here in Eclipse that Stephenie Meyer finally delves into the history of her creatures and how they fit into the world as we know it. People need to see this and have a perfect understanding of it. It is vital to continuing the Twilight Saga story.

2) Much of Eclipse is comprised from the amount of time Stephenie Meyer spends on explaining the backstories of various characters. It is in Eclipse that we learn the reason why vampires and werewolves hate each other, the history of the Cullen family, Jasper's story, gain a deeper understanding of the vampires and their world, and the world of the werewolves. Again, through much of the previous two movies this element has been neglected and new people being introduced to the saga are getting lost, confused, and misunderstand (because they have yet to read the books...if they ever will) and so the deeper meaning of the saga is lost for forever. Don't skip this element!

Bella and Jacob3) Victoria's newborn vampire army is also crucial to Eclipse. The strength of newborn vampires in the Twilight Saga are significantly more powerful than your average or older vampire, but also more unreliable as they have yet not learned how to control themselves. Gaining this knowledge can make or break the rest/last half of the movie.

4) The final battle is the ultimate climax. It is the no-holds-barred epic battle between the Cullen family with their werewolf allies against Victoria and her newborn vampire army. This is intense and a must do (well done too, I might add!). This also with the simultaneous issue back at Bella, Jacob, Seth, and Edward's camp will have the audience raptured. If done right.

5) The tent scene(s) as mentioned above needs to have plenty of time to truly show the issue and fight over Bella. The tent scene(s) is the ultimate show of what is going on between the two sets of relationships.

6) Bella and Jacob VS Bella and Edward, however, lasts longer than the tent scene(s). It needs to be shown throughout the entire movie and well. David Slade needs to show how Bella and Jacob have a true love for each other that rests of them being themselves and secure and strong together. Bella and Edward depends on a mystical love/lust, Bella needing to change to be with Edward, and her worry whenever she is with him (relationship wise and physically). The differences need to be played against each other so that it is understood what Bella is asking to choose between and what she will ultimately choose.

Overall, Eclipse, just as New Moon should have been, should be about 4 hours, however, if scripted well it could be pulled off beautifully in about 3 hours. As it gets closer I will continue to pray that it is not just again 2 hours long. Because if that be the case, then the Twilight Saga will no longer be the Twilight Saga.

Update: Eclipse is 2 hours and 4 minutes

Rob And His Heart-Shaped Sunglasses

I love pictures like these! Here's a random and totally candid one of RPattz :)

{via Bella's Diary}

'New Moon' Makes $200+ Million!

Its been 8 days since New Moon made it to the big screen and it has currently grossed over $200 million - $206.1 million to be exact! This is HUGE compared to Twilight's earnings of $192.8 million that it had made in 20 weeks.
In the first three days of the holiday frame beginning Wednesday, "New Moon" has grossed $41.4 million.

The record holder for the best Thanksgiving frame haul still belongs to the first "Harry Potter" which made $82.4 million from Wednesday through Sunday.
I have a feeling New Moon will still be going strong through the rest of the holiday weekend :)

Rob Discusses The Most Draining Scene in 'New Moon'

Rob sits down with one of the cheetah girls :) Along with talking about his most draining scene in New Moon, he also discusses something he's received because of his Twilight fame, what he stole off the sets of Twilight and New Moon, and whose role he'd like to play, other than Edward, in New Moon.

Melissa Rosenberg on Harry Clearwater's Death

Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg talked with MTV about who she made Victoria the cause of Harry Clearwater’s death in New Moon. Her logic is awesome, as I was wondering why she had decided to take that path since Stephenie Meyer does not say what causes Harry's heart-attack. Melissa said that:

“In the book, Harry Clearwater’s death, heart attack is mentioned as something that’s off screen, although it plays a crucial role in the structure of the books. Reading that it was Harry Clearwater’s heart attack it just gave me the idea of, why don’t we see this? Stephenie [Meyer] doesn’t specify what caused the heart attack, so I decided, well, you know, if could be caused by something startling him. It could be caused by fear.

It was a way to keep Victoria alive, it was a way to keep Charlie and the hunt alive, the danger to Charlie alive and that’s where we get a really great action sequence with Victoria that all blends together with important parts of the movie and bring parts of the book forward. I particularly like that.”

Twilight Featuring V Sevani

Inspired by our favorite Saga, Twilight is recorded by artist V Sevani, former member of boy band NLT. Aptly titled Twilight, it highlights the difficulty of building a relationship, and the battle between love and a fatal outcome. I'm not much into this genre of music, however, I really enjoyed the song, hope ya'll do as well!

Did You Catch these 'New Moon' Mistakes?

I don't know if I'd call some of these mistakes - more like over analyzation to its max by Movie Mistakes!

Either way, try and catch these the next time you see New Moon for the umpteenth time ;)
The more popular a movie is, the more it will be examined and put under a microscope as people look for errors. The people over at Movie Mistakes have already found some mistakes with New Moon - not that it matters, because, well… it’s a great movie. But for entertainment, read on:

Continuity: After Bella awakes from the first nightmare, we see her Romeo and Juliet book on thepillow beside her. When Charlie brings in her presents the book is gone, but then reappears on the pillow between shots.

Continuity: Bella goes to Italy to save Edward. Alice drops Bella off - when Bella gets out of the car to ask where Edward will be, first you see Bella in front of the car door, then she is suddenly behind the car door.

Visible crew/equipment: In the montage scenes where we see Bella’s depression, when the camera is circling her, the camera man is shown in the mirror (twice) behind her.

Continuity: When Edward takes Bella to the forest to tell her he is leaving, Bella’s hair hangs down her back. But in a following shot most of it is tucked up in the hood of her coat.

Continuity: When Alice jumps over the staircase in school to wish Bella happy birthday, between shots during the scene the positioning of the decorated scarf around her neck varies.

Continuity: When Bella pulls up at the Black’s, she spots Jacob, gets out of her truck and her door doesn’t fully close . Later you can see in the background that the door is firmly shut.

Revealing: The rims of the vampires contacts can be spotted occasionally during the film, especially the Volturi’s during the ending scenes, e.g. Jane’s in the elevator.

Continuity: When Alice is driving Bella to the Volturi, she is wearing a headscarf and sunglasses. During the scene the way the headscarf is tied changes; the size and shape of the knot (and the colours on the knot) are different.

Continuity: When Mike and Jacob are standing outside the cinema waiting for Bella, between shots the Burger King takeaway bag sitting on the trashcan next to them changes position.

Factual error: When Bella is flying to Italy they show a Virgin America airplane. Virgin America only flies within certain cities in the US. Virgin Atlantic flies from the US to Europe.

Continuity: When Jacob first shows off his tattoo, it is up at the top of his shoulder. Then when he is in the forest at the end with Bella and Edward, his tattoo is about 2 inches further down his arm.

Factual error: In the main title when the giant new moon appears on the screen the shadow fades over the moon from right to left when it should actually fade from left to right. The moon travels around the earth clockwise. The waning moon should turn to a new moon, not the waxing which is shown.

Visible crew/equipment: In the very last scene, right before the ultimatum, if you look into the tail lights on Edward’s car you can see various members of the crew reflected.

Continuity: When Bella is at the cafeteria table with Mike and he is asking her to the movies her hair keeps moving from behind her ear to hanging, and back again.

Continuity: When Edward and Bella turn around to leave the Volturi Chamber, Edward’s robe is tied. When they show them leaving from the back it is undone.

Kristen Stewart to Star in "The Yellow Handkerchief"

Kristen Stewart
The official trailer and summary for Kristen Stewart's next film, The Yellow Handkerchief, has been released and looks very intriguing! I can't wait to see it! Imagine Kristen playing that Louisiana southern girl, accent and all! Sounds like a 180 and fabulous! I believe that we are now only starting to see what she is capable and will surprise us all with her hidden talent as she chooses to reveal it. Read on for details:

Forget the supernatural: In Kristen Stewart's next project, the New Moon star is taking a deeply human turn, playing a troubled teenager in the indie flick The Yellow Handkerchief, due in theaters in February.

Costarring William Hurt, Mario Bello and Eddie Redmayne, the movie explores the relationships between three strangers who embark on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana. Stewart plays Martine, a teen who hopes to escape her family, while Hurt plays Brett Hanson, a man who has to choose between his ex-wife (played by Bello) or what's next.

"The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen's fans all over the world," says the film's Oscar winning producer Arthur Cohn. "In my personal opinion, from a pure acting point of view, The Yellow Handkerchief was a more difficult part to play."

Cohn says that Stewart got the part thanks to the recommendation of one famous former costar: "It was Jodie Foster, whom I respect and admire, who wholeheartedly recommended Kristen," he says of her Panic Room costar, "and has always considered her a truly excellent young actress."

Three New Covers of EW - Take Your Pick!

This Friday EW is coming out with 3 different covers to choose from! They are dedicating the latest issue to New Moon and it seems appropriate, considering the enormous buzz the movie has been constantly generating and its incredible 3-day weekend gross!

Robert Pattinson Kristen Stewart Taylor Lautner
Here's a little taste of what you'll find in the issue.
Call it battle of the abs. Or the teen screams heard round the world. Either way, Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon did more business on its opening weekend than any other movie this year. Now that it’s the biggest fall opening ever at $142.8 million and its opening day number of $72.7 million outgrossed The Dark Knight’s first-day figure, Hollywood should finally accept that women drive the box office in a big way. “It’s great that the greenlighters in town have realized that little girls go to the movies,” says MGM’s president of marketing Michael Vollman. “But this genre has worked forever. To Sir With Love was an angsty girl movie.”

So what will this fickle, yet incredibly devoted audience turn to next? Disney thinks it could be…fairies. The studio has scooped up Aprilynne Pike’s best-selling young adult novel Wings and cast Miley Cyrus in an adaptation. New Regency is banking on a new novel from Ann Brashares (author of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) called My Name is Memory, while Lionsgate hopes tweens line up for an adaptation of author Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. “Some will work and some won’t,” Summit’s co-chairman and CEO Rob Friedman says of the girl-driven projects. No matter what, “It won’t be The Twilight Saga. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
I know which cover I'm picking up ;) What about you?

Chris Weitz on New Moon - Reviews, Filming, & Paparazzi

EW did a recent Q&A session with Chris Weitz, where he discusses New Moon and all the excitement that came with it as well as discussing his time with the actors.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was your biggest fear going into [opening] weekend?
CHRIS WEITZ: I didn’t have any particular fears. The tracking numbers were enough to indicate that I wouldn’t be letting the studio down. But if one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie, by the fans. What I’ve realized over the last week is I won’t necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.

Did the negative reviews surprise you?
Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews. Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing. And given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it’s rather unsurprising. I do wish there was more appreciation for cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I think he’s a genius and I think he made something beautiful.

A lot of fans say they like the movie more than the book, that New Moon was their least favorite book in the series.
New Moon takes a lot of time to read and you have a lot of time without Edward in the picture. And here in the compressed scenario of the movie, there is less time without RPatz. And the fact that Taylor [Lautner] does such a great job, to the reading audience who’s been very skeptical of him, here he is in the flesh, and it’s quite something.

Were there moments that you felt constrained by the book? Anything you wanted to take out but couldn’t?
The studio, my editor, and I were all working off the same piece of music. The only way I can make that interesting is to compare it to my previous experience of The Golden Compass. I don’ think the studio had read the book. Maybe they had heard the audio book while sipping Zinfandel. Eventually, they were appalled and frightened by it. At a certain point they considered cutting loose the author. They considered and executed the complete regearing and destruction of what I thought was going to be a pretty good movie. It was a shame and pursued me through what should have been my sleep for a good year.

Really, you didn’t sleep for a year?
Yes, I lost sleep over it. Literally. I stayed up at night pondering how I could have saved it or turned it around or if I had acted differently could I have made it what it ought to have been. Unfortunately, my experience was I went down with the ship. I could have quit at one point. In a parallel universe — and [author Philip] Pullman is really big on parallel universes — I get up and say fine, re-cut, but you won’t see me back again. At the same time, I loved the book so much that if there was any way to abdicate for the better version of it I couldn’t let go.

It’s interesting then that you went forward with another book adaptation with another studio, considering how badly it went the last time.
I really liked the actors. I saw the first movie and I thought there was something special about Kristen [Stewart] , Rob [Pattinson], and Taylor. I liked the emotional tones to the book. It was stuff I knew how to do. I had this theory that if you stay true to the book, you would win. You would not only win with the fans, but other people will get what the fans care about. If the box office tells us anything, then it’s a win. It’s made more in its first day then the entire domestic run of Golden Compass. It’s extraordinary.

What were the highest and lowest points of making New Moon?
The lows had to be shooting at 5 a.m. in a forest and struggling to get certain shots so a sequence would string together properly. It was a very cold forest in British Columbia, and we knew we’d have another night shoot just like it the next day. The highs were the moments of real identification with the actors. With Taylor, the moments early on when he realized he was going to do it. That was very gratifying to me.

What do you think is Taylor’s best scene?
When he jumps into Bella’s room. There is so much pathos there even though it’s melodrama, there’s something touching about it. Or maybe the last moment he has, just when he says Bella’s name. You sort of understand just how crushed he is at that moment. There are a few times where he’s absolutely that guy and it’s really lovely. He’s that guy for the fans and that’s what I always thought he could do.

Do you think Kristen evolved as an actor in this movie?
I’m not sure she evolved as much as she had room to run. She’s a thoroughbred as far as actors go. To me, she can do know wrong. The experience of working with her and the caliber of work she was doing was pretty extraordinary. Let’s put aside girl in love with a vampire, her ability to manifest these emotions below the surface, above the surface just to get things right. She’s extraordinarily exacting of herself and in those moments where I was able to give her the room to do that are things I’m very proud of. That’s a high point.

You made the movie you wanted to here?
Yes, pretty much. In terms of what I wanted to do with the gloss of the picture, the look of the picture, I’m very satisfied with it. And satisfied to touch back with the crew and the actors and to feel we made it under humane conditions as well. No actors were harmed in the making of this movie.

The music was such a big part of this film. How did that all come together?
The songs that came in didn’t have to be as good as they were. We asked bands to come up with something in days or weeks. We screened the movie for The Killers, Death Cab, Lykke Li, Anya Marina. In the case of Thom Yorke, it was surprising and delightful that the song he did worked for the action scene. There were a lot of songs that didn’t make it because they didn’t fit a particular moment or mood, not at all due to their quality. Somewhere out there is a Anya Marina recording of Lou Reed’s Perfect Day. There’s some lovely work by the Republic Tigers, some lovely work by Moby. You could make a pretty good album of the stuff that didn’t make it.

You’ve been around the world promoting this movie. Have you ever been part of something like this?
Never. It’s like being Ringo Starr. There are the big three and then there’s Ringo. It’s probably what he faced a lot. Hey Ringo, Can I meet Paul? When I meet the fans there’s a lot of enthusiasm for me, if one of the kids is nearby or, if they think I can arrange some tryst.

What about dealing with the paparazzi? Did you have any run-ins?
I did a bit of a Sean Penn at LAX. When we were leaving for the European tour. We had left from our L.A. press junket to go to LAX and someone nearly ran us off the road trying to get to one of the cars. We were followed by eight different vans and there was some really dangerous driving. And I understood for the first time how things happened to Princess Diana (I don’t think I’m Princess Diana), and I understood for the first time why celebrities lash out and what’s that about. My first thought upon getting out of the car was, “Who was that driver of the car?” I never found him, but I did lift someone by the hood. A photographer. He was in my way. They have a legal right to be there but they don’t have an ethical right, and he was obstructing my path, and there was someone else I threatened to knock their teeth out. It’s not like me but I felt very protective at that moment and very attacked. There is a huge difference between the attention of the paparazzi and the attention of the fans. The fans have been lovely. The paparazzi in my opinion are a very low form of primate.

Do you think you’re going to get some boys into the theater for New Moon?
I think so. I just hope it’s not just guys who were dragged there. And if they were dragged there, I hope some part of them is enjoying it. And I hope they can admit it if that’s the case. But if not, I hope they have a nice night with their girlfriend. I had an imaginary ad campaign saying “Will your girlfriend go in thinking of Edward, Jacob, or you.” I thought that would force men to go.
