New Moon Makes Top 10 List for Most Movie Mistakes

New Moon Book Cover
So The Twilight Saga has gotten tons of great reviews, but this unfortunately is not one of them. MovieMistakes.com released their top ten movies with the most mistakes for the year, and New Moon landed at number 5 on the list. There were a calculated 29 mistakes found throughout the film, hmm, guess I was a little distracted by Robert Pattinson taking his shirt off, because I didn't notice and I doubt many others did either. Nobody said New Moon was perfect, just that it's an amazing film that we'll always love forever and ever. I'm pretty sure, mistakes or no mistakes, New Moon will still be loved just the same and it will probably be nearly impossible to find all 29 mistakes to the untrained eye, so happy hunting MovieMistakes, and moving on to brighter days.

Barnes & Noble Twilight Galore

Barnes & Noble is hosting a mass Twilight section in a location near me. Lunch boxes, bags, books, calendars, and everything else you can imagine filled the tables along the main isle. Even previous merchandise I had not heard of adorned the tables.

Need more of Twilight? Then get to your Barnes & Noble!

Billy Burke Talks to TV Guide

In an interview with TV Guide Billy Burke talks about the birth of his daughter and how that has affected his role as Bella's father in New Moon. He also talks about how it feels to be a part of the hype surrounding The Twilight Saga and does a short comparison between the three directors so far. Catherine Hardewick who he describes as "energetic and wanted to play around a lot" and Chris Weitz he describes as "kind of just knew what he wanted and went after it". David Slade on the other hand Billy describes as "a little of both Chris and Catherine". I don't know about everyone else, but I would have to say that Billy is one of my fave actors in the saga.

...If TwilightBlog was made in the 90s...

Ever wonder what it would be like if Twilight had come out in the '90s? Well, wonder no more!

This is what our website would most likely look like if the year was 1996 rather than just about to turn 2010. I think we've come a long way since then.

Make sure to click to make the image bigger so you can see all the juicy, Web 1.0 details. Maybe it'll even bring back some memories!

Taylor Squared Split????

Taylor Swift
US Weekly is saying that Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift have decided to go their separate ways. Reportedly, the breakup wasn't a big dramatic deal between the two or anything of that nature. Inside sources said the two just became good friends, went on a few dates, and it just never really took off. The two did hang out a lot over the last few months after meeting on the set of Valentine's Day. The two are said to still be very good friends and they plan to keep it that way. Both Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift did confirm that they are now single.

So ladies, all bets are off, your hunky wolf-boy is single again, have at him! They were a cute couple while they lasted, but there's plenty of other fish in the sea!

Chocolate Anyone?

newmoon chocolates
It has recently been discovered that New Moon chocolates have been popping up on shelves. Joining a long line of other Twilight inspired merchandise including - board games, bedding etc, the heart shaped box of chocolates even has our fave characters to choose from. Jacob is a wolf shaped (obviously) peanut butter filled chocolate. Bella is a heart shaped chocolate that says "Bella" on it, and last but not least is the Edward chocolate, which is caramel filled(could it perhaps be some sort of reference to his eye color?) and in the shape of the Cullen Crest. Selling for around $5 all I can say is, chocolate anyone?

Team Edward President Switches to Team Jacob for Unknown Reasons

Team Edward
That's right, Twi-hards, Team Edward's President has pulled a flip-flop and decided that she's now Team Jacob. 13-year-old, Jennifer Tunney, was elected President of Team Edward after Twilight was released in theaters in 2008. After the announcement, she was quoted on her Facebook page as saying,“im so excited i love you Edwad! [sic]” Her tasks included being a leader for Team Edward into the years to come, and to comment on Twilight stories about Edward online. During her time leading Team Edward she was also quoted as saying, "OMG i love you Edward! I hope your real," "Team Edward will never die. When im an old lady i will still have edward carved into my foot and have bells is a [female dog] on my head," and "Edward please write me back i love you and your skin!"

Tunney's obsession went from normal to highly unusual very quickly when an encounter with sexy RPattz turned weird. The girl actually tried to throw her feces, yes that's right, feces at him and instead hit a hotel security guard. Tunney's parents apologized to Rob and the hotel staff, but there was more to come with Jennifer. She accidentally revealed through her Facebook account that she had just read New Moon for the first time which was long after the release of Twilight on film. People were outraged and wanted her overthrown. The comments that she got back were cruel, to put it lightly.

Tunney hid out until after New Moon's release, when she said that her soul had been awakened by the experience and that she was switching to Team Jacob for reason she said, "You should know. If you don't know then I'm not going to tell you." Dana Erickson, President of Team Bella said, "It serves both teams right. They are so weird. We love Bella, not Edward or Jacob because Bella is so hot especially in her plaid and boots." Team Jacob spokesperson Tanya DeVries was ecstatic about Tunney's decision whereas the President, Julianna Milfred, was a little more skeptical saying, "I guess I'm cool with it. If she wants my job, she will have to stab a goat or something. She can't just walk in and be all 'I'm with Team Jacob now, so you know...' whatever. I mean, I guess it's alright."

Isn't switching teams considered to be a cardinal sin with Twi-hards??? I just always thought that choosing teams was based on more than just how hot one or the other was.

Robert Pattinson Says He Doesn't Like Edward & Bella's Relationship

Robert Pattinson says that he doesn't really like the relationship between Edward and Bella in The Twilight Saga. The main issue that Rob has with the couple is that their relationship alienates everyone around them, in other words, they're so caught up in each other that the other relationships around them are strained. Rob was also happy to share that he did a lot of his own stunts in New Moon, but had to give that up when he was injured on the very first day. He also talks a little about his family, fame, and his opinion on being a vampire in real life.

Charlie Bewley Reveals Darkness in Eclipse

charlie bewley reveals darkness in eclipseIn an interview with ok.co.uk, Charlie revealed that Eclipse director David Slade has added an element of darkness to the love story. Saying that "David is a master of mood. Eclipse has this different mood about it, it's dark and vicious. You get to see the brutal natures of vampires and what they're really capable of, which is something we haven't really seen in the first two movies."

Charlie went on to say that director David Slade works very differently from director Chris Weitz.

He said "They are very different directors. David understands what each scene needs [to create the dark mood] - absolute fine tuning. He might just stop a scene halfway through and tweak something before saying 'Go back and say that word again and I want you to put emphasis on that."

"It was very controlled when I was on set, I wasn't able to theatrically elaborate as I was on Chris's film. But that is exactly why David has been brought on board. To make the film more real. Eclipse is going to be more real."

Charlie also revealed that Robert Pattinson's character, Edward, will have a very strong presence in Eclipse. Saying on Twitter "Wolf reviews today, looking better and better. The Eclipse story and the way we approach the film calls for a more realistic approach...As we cut. Edward seems to be a really strong presence the intensity of the love story and rivalry between Jacob is in the drivers' seat."

Gil Birmingham Talks About Rob and Taylor

In an interview with MyBliss Gil Birmingham has revealed a little on the personalities of our two fave supernatural creatures in a small comparison between Rob and Taylor. When asked "Who is the moodiest, Rob or Taylor?" Gil reveals that Rob is the moodiest. " Who eats the most?" Gil answered Taylor, though that's not surprising considering the muscle mass that he has to keep up. Also in the interview Gil gives us a singing demo (he has a wonderful voice by the way) he also reveals what he thinks about the Twilight fans who attend the conventions.

New Twilight Necklace, Something Fans Can Sink Their Teeth into

Fang-Bite NecklaceA necklace created by Sandy Meeks of Arkansas will have vampire fans looking feminine and fang-friendly. The jewelry is crocheted from cashmere yarn and clasps in the back with a loop and toggle closure. The even better news is, it's affordable at only ten bucks... that's right ten smackers and you'll be able to show everyone that you've been bitten by the vampire obsession. It's very intricate and creative to have been created from yarn, especially the bite marks that look almost like blooming roses and the drops running down. Beautiful.

Kristen Stewart May Have A Little Competition

Lucie Jones Clutches Twilight BookThat's right, yet another rumor of RPattz and a different female companion. Lucie Jones from X Factor told Now magazine that Robert Pattinson asked her out on a date, or rather Rob's sister called her up and asked her for the busy hunk. Jones is just beginning a modeling career with Select Models. According to Lucie, she got the request for a dinner date following the New Moon premiere, but she was already booked for a Christmas ceremony and had to decline. When asked if she felt that she had ruined her chances, she replied, "We're still in touch and we're going to go to dinner or something next week. I can't believe it, he's my dream man. I really, really fancy him. Kristen Stewart had better watch out!"

Woah, that sounds like an open challenge to me. No one can expect Robsten to last forever they're both going through really hectic times in their lives. The air was just being cleared of Rob and Katy Perry rumors, so did he really or didn't he? If so, then Lucie Jones, you have the envy of millions of girls, who could dream of canceling on Robert Pattinson???? I don't know if calling Kristen out was the best choice in the matter, but the cat's out of the bag now and only time will tell what the consequences will be. I'm noticing a trend here; anyone think Rob prefers brunettes? One point for me!

Twilight Leaves Its Mark on 2009 in Another Way

Baby with A Flower HatStephenie Meyer is leaving her mark just about everywhere now, the literary world, the big screen, the television world, the internet, and millions of places in between. Now she has reached another milestone, even though it may not be as significant as many things she's already accomplished. BabyCenter released their top baby names of 2009, and guess what name was #1 on the girls' names list? That's right, Isabella was the most popular name for 2009. It's amazing to see how much of an impact The Twilight Saga really has in the world today.

I wonder how Stephenie Meyer feels considering that was the name she wanted to give her daughter, had she ever had one.

Ashley Greene Makes 50 Most Beautiful List

Ashley Greene makes to 50 most beautiful listAshley Greene has made the Baltimore Sun's 50 Most Beautiful Female Celebrities List. Although The Twilight Saga sports some lovely faces it was Ashley's that The Sun named in it's list. Just sliding in at number 50 Ashley is in good company with the likes of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Camilla Belle also featuring on the list. According to The Sun the reason that Ashley made the list is She's the bubbly, optimistic vamp in the Twilight Series-which is a nice change from the angst-fest we get from the rest of the fanged ones." While the Sun's reasoning doesn't quite seem right, I'm sure that we'd all agree that they have chosen the right woman.

Twilight, True Blood, Or Vampire Diaries?

Battle of The Blood-Sucker
The vampire desire is sweeping the nation. Fans of Twilight have no problem switching over to True Blood or The Vampire Diaries to satisfy their sweet-fang for vamps. They're all looming with dark edginess in a supernatural world brought to life, but other elements of each make them stand alone in their allure. One thing is for sure, between all three, fans are getting multiple angles of their vampire addiction satisfied to its very core. Maybe no one knows why we're so obsessed with vampires, I can't even explain it myself, but seeing so many brought to life before your eyes almost makes you wish they did somehow exist.

Twilight, the series that we've all come to love and obsess over, with beautiful Edward and his awkward, uncoordinated human girlfriend, not to mention the poor wolf, slash boy, caught in between. With the young adult audience that this series has attracted, although it does still hold a piece of our hearts, it leaves some vamp-lovers wanting more. True Blood is obviously intended for a more adult audience, and it can't be denied that the mature Twi-fans are really digging the movement into an adult supernatural world. Just as women have been swept off of their feet by Edward Cullen, Bill Compton is taking breaths away, now to add to that craving the good-looking Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan. Vampire Diaries seems to hit that equilibrium point between True Blood and Twilight to perfectly balance the overall vamp obsession.

True Blood is more than just vampires, with shape-shifters, werewolves, and mind-readers, just as Twilight has it's Wolf Pack and Vampire Diaries has witches and magic. Each series has its own vampire traits as well. True Blood vamps can't go out in the sun at all, Vampire Diaries vamps can't go out unless they have a special ring that protects them from sunlight, and of course Twilight vamps have skin that shimmers in sunlight, giving them away. One theme is very strong throughout all of these stories, and that is love. The reason we can't get enough is because it's a love and passion that is so familiar to something we all experience.

The reason we're addicted to all three is because the love that underlies each story is unique but has one major thing in common, fear of the unknown. There's no certainty in life, and definitely not in love. We're so used to stories with happily-ever-afters all the time that the dark side of love is kind of refreshing. It's more easy to relate to struggle in relationships than it is to that ooey gooey, oh that's so sweet kind of love story that we're used to seeing on-screen or in writing. There may be a happy ending for the characters in the stories, but it's not without struggle like we all face, everyday.

Whether your passion be Twilight, True Blood, or Vampire Diaries, you're not alone, and you'd be surprised how many that are fans of any are into one if not both of the others. We just can't seem to satisfy that urge to see more and more of the blood-sucking, cold-skinned, immortals that have entered our world and the wave doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. Maybe it's a desire for the idea to be able to live forever, or the magic that surrounds each story, but either way, we love the vampire movement.

Taylor Lautner is the Fittest Male Celeb in 2009

Mixture Taylor Lautner Rolling Stones Photo ShootFitSugar has an article on Taylor Lautner - and his muscles! They asked the fans to vote for the fittest male celebrity and Taylor ended with 45 percent of the votes! Well, did you expect any more? He put on 30 pounds of muscles for one part in a movie! Can you find someone more dedicated and hot as he? Don't think so! See what FitSugar said about him below.

"Actor Taylor Lautner left the competition in the dust this year, getting 45 percent of your votes for the fittest male celeb in 2009 poll. Though some of you expressed dissent that there was a 17-year-old in the celeb pool, the Twilight actor earned more than double the votes as Ryan Reynolds his closest competition.

The release of
New Moon made it a big year for Team Jacob, and Lautner packed 30 pounds to reprise his role as Jacob, the werewolf. In a matter of months Lautner went from scrawny to seriously buff, showing off a new eight-pack in the pages of Rolling Stones. Lautner's motivation to be fit doesn't stem entirely from a movie role, either; he's also an accomplished martial arts artist. From ages 6 to 13, Lautner studied karate and was ranked number one in the worldfor NASKA's Black Belt Open Forms, Musical Weapons, Traditional Weapons and Traditional Forms. Growing up, Lautner played team sports, and says that if it wasn't for acting he would have focused on a serious career in football.

Curious to see why Lautner may have received so many votes? Check out his recent gig on Saturday Night Live where he gave fans a display of his martial arts skills."

Congratulation Taylor!

Twilight Actors Giving Back for The Holidays

Okay, it wasn't the big dogs, not Taylor, Kristen, Robert, Anna, or Peter. It was however a couple actors that were in the first Twilight film and they were doing their part to help the needy this holiday season. Ayanna Berkshire, the waitress, and Catherine Grimme, the little girl who played young Bella, were in Portland, Oregon to ring the bell for Salvation Army. They were even kind enough to answer questions for an interview, check out the video! It's great to see stars giving back to others.

Twilight Reality Show in Forks, Open Casting Call

Random Forks ImagesForks, Washington residents will have the opportunity to star in a reality show springing from the success of The Twilight Saga. Apparently, the show has not been signed to any network yet, but a casting call will be held to choose potential stars that are residents of the Forks area. Once those roles are cast, then the producers will be presenting the show idea to different networks. Zig Gauthier will be holding the casting calls Tuesday, December 22, at Twilight Lounge (formerly Vagabond Bar and Restaurant) from noon-4 P.M. on Tuesday and interviews on Wednesday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Casting call attendees will be asked to fill out a one to two page questionnaire and have their picture taken.

The press release for the event asks the questions, "Do you have a dynamic, outgoing personality?", "Are you TV friendly?", and "Do you permanently live in Forks?" So if you're lucky enough to be an actual Forks resident, I'd recommend giving it a shot, I had a chance to go to a casting call once and let it pass me by, don't let the same happen to you. Anyone interested should go to www.redvarden.com or call the studio in Santa Monica at (310) 450-5860.

‘The Twilight Saga’ vs. ‘The Vampire Diaries’

By Libby F.

Twilight’s popularity (and therefore revenue) has influenced Hollywood to really go all out when it comes to ‘vampire trends.’ From True Blood to The Vampire's Assistant to The Vampire Diaries, there are certainly many choices out there when deciding which series to ‘sink your teeth into.’

You can’t head into any Barnes & Nobles or Borders without finding an entire section dedicated to Twilight: Twilight chocolate, Twilight T-shirts, the DVD, blu-ray and even Twilight collector’s cards. There are even fanatics who claim 'Team Edward' that refuse to interact with those within the 'Team Jacob' camp. Clearly, there are an insane number of Twilighters out there. But is Twilight really the best when it comes to “Vampires in Media”?

In Twilight, the Vampires are pale and glitter in sunlight (instead of the traditional burning). The Twilight Vampires, or, at least Edward, are “emo” and often cold-hearted. Bella also isn't that great. She sulks for pretty much half of the New Moon and realizes that in order to "see" Edward she needs to put her life in danger and achieve an adrenaline rush. What exactly is this teaching kids?

Admittedly, one of the reasons I like Twilight so much is because of the love triangle between Bella, Jacob and Edward. Twilight is definitely targeted at a younger teenager audience. One example of this would be how Jacob is seen with his shirt off showing off his 17-year-old abdominals for half the movie.

In The Vampire Diaries the Vampires are more humanized. They don't glow and they aren't shiny. Not to mention these Vampires seem to actually have some melanin in their skin.
The main girl, Elena, is a much stronger than Bella. Although her life is difficult (moreso than Bella’s many would argue), she doesn't go around sulking. The Vampire Diaries Vampire characters are also in high school, but they portray high-schoolers much better than their Twilight-actor counterparts

The Vampire Diaries also has a more mysterious atmosphere to it making it appeal to an older generation of teenagers. It also doesn't have shirtless guys walking around in every scene trying to appeal to their immature and adolescent audience.

For me personally, I prefer The Vampire Diaries, and I really feel like most older teenagers and adults would agree with me. What do YOU think?

Twilight Scene Makes Top 5 for Movie Moments

What was an absolutely pivotal scene for Twilight has made it's mark on movie goers. Moviefone has listed the crash scene (where Edward saves Bella from Tyler's van) as one of the top 25 movie moments of the decade, number four in fact. Of course the translation of this scene from book to movie was of utter importance so had to be absolutely perfect, and while there are a few small changes in it, they essentially succeeded.

A few other scenes that also made the list were Uma Thurman's Crazy 88 scene from Kill Bill Vol.1" The bamboo forest in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Smeagol falling into the lava in The Lord of the Rings-Return of the King.

So congratulations for the new milestone, Twilight is in great company here. Now I'm off to watch it again (not like I don't know the whole movie word for word or anything)

Robert Pattinson Kissed by Fan with Swine Flu

Robert Pattinson Licks Anna Kendrick

Robert Pattinson was going about his business when a female fan jumped out of a stopped vehicle, ran up to him and kissed him. She said to him, "My mom wouldn't pull the car over to let me out because I'm just getting over the swine flu... so I jumped out at the red light just to see you." After that Rob reportedly pushed the girl away and yelled back, "You have the swine flu?! What the hell are you doing kissing anyone?" Rob didn't make any comments on the occurrence, but why should he have to, that's just disgusting.

But seriously, you can just walk up to Robert Pattinson and kiss him, I mean what girl doesn't dream of a moment like that????? Doesn't she know that swine flu, a.k.a. Spanish influenza, is what poor Edward Cullen was dying of in Twilight when Carlisle finds him? I can't believe that someone would have the nerve to kiss him when they know that they just got over an illness that's not only highly contagious, but deadly, hello!!! I think she deserved to be yelled at because that was a totally disrespectful act against Robert, he should have pressed assault charges or something, geez! Even if Rob may occasionally like a little tongue action, I'm sure he's not looking for a deadly virus.

Continuation: 10 Hidden Things in New Moon

So, you guys must have already seen the five hidden things in New Moon at a post bellow, but there's more! The Twilight Official Twitter site posted the link in Entertainment Weekly that contains both old and new hidden secrets. See all of the ten, in case you missed the first five, bellow.

1. Hidden wolves
''Look for an upside-down engraving of a wolf in the shot of the bowl in which Carlisle burns his first-aid equipment; on Jacob's T-shirt when he meets Bella in the school parking lot for the first time; and a wolf trinket on the dream-catcher that he gives her.''

2. Vampire elevator music
''When Edward, Bella, and Alice get into the elevator on their way to see the Volturi, the music playing in the elevator is from Strauss' Die Fledermaus (a.k.a. The Bat).''

3. Emotional baggage?
''When Bella is looking for the meadow where she and Edward are seen lying down together, she carries a golden compass clipped to her backpack — part of my baggage!''

4. Speedy suitor
''We did a little trick when Edward gets out of Bella's truck and they're arguing. We wanted to show Edward moving impossibly quickly, so we put Rob right next to the camera but out of sight, and used a double dressed like Rob in the driver's seat. When Edward gets out, it's the double, and then Rob steps in front of the camera, and it looks as if he got there faster than humanly possible.''

5. Look it up
''And last but not least: If you want to know what Jacob says before he almost kisses Bella, ask a Quileute! The address of the Quileute tribal council is quileutenation.org. I can tell you this much: He says, Kwop kilawtley.'

6. Tower of glower
''You can see Volterra's tower and the red-cloaked revelers from the festival of San Marco on the cover of Bella's copy of Romeo and Juliet when she wakes up in her bedroom.''

7. Hope it was a rental...
''In the wolf-fight, we purposely knocked over the camera when the wolves tumble towards it; you can also hear the microphone thumping, as if an actual on-set animal had run into the camera and boom.''

8. Quileute culture

''When prepping to visualize Jacobs and Emily's houses, production designer David Brisbin and his team visited La Push and met the Quileute executive council. While they were there, a young Quileute girl gave David the first drum she made (this is a Quileute custom). To show appreciation, we decided to put the drum in a prominent shot — it's at the entrance of Emily's house, and you see it when Bella first enters. Also, the high pitched 'call' that Embry and Jared give when they jump out of Bella's car is a thing the Quileute kids do.''

9. Waxing romantic
''The reason the moon phases 'backwards' to reveal the title is that this is scientifically correct! I moderated an astrophysics seminar for the Science and Entertainment Exchange with noted astronomer Neil DeGrasse Tyson and he complained about the number of films that get simple science wrong. (Don't ask me to justify vampires or werewolves).''

10. That's Italian!
''In the Volturi chamber, Aro speaks Italian — 'La Tua Cantante' should be easy for readers of the books — he's referring to Bella's being Edward's 'singer,' whose blood calls out to him stronger than anyone else's. Later, when Bella tells him that he doesn't know anything about Edward's soul, he replies, 'Fore ... ne il vostro l'uno o altro' — 'Perhaps ... nor yours either.'''

Taylor Lautner's New Movie, Valentine's Day

Taylor Lautner appears in a new movie, Valentine's Day. The movie is to come out near Valentine's Day, around the 12th. This movie will is going to be considered one of the biggest celebrity gathering (when many famous stars start all together in one movie) of this decade (or more!). The movie starts Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Alex Williams, Julia Roberts, Jaime Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Gardner, Eric Dane, Emma Roberts, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner and Queen Latifah and many more. One of them came out a while ago, but the other came these last few days, and it show Taylor Lautner. The first one didn't show neither one of the Taylors (Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift) because they aren't a major role in the movie, although Taylor Lautner doesn't speak on the trailer.. See the first and second trailer of the movie bellow.

What Jacob Says to Bella

Bella and Jacob Almost Kiss
During New Moon, a couple of people might have noticed that before Jacob kisses Bella, he murmurs something to her. Chris Weitz, New Moon director, admitted in an interview that Jacob says "Kwop kilawtley", meaning something in Quileute. When Taylor Lautner visited the real La Push, he learned this sentence, even though the Quileute language is fading, a few people still know it. Taylor thought of adding it to the movie, which Weitz accepted. Taylor was interviewed on what "Kwop kilawtley" means, but refuses to translate it. Just to say, a few people have theories! Actually, not theories, but theory. What people think it means is "Stay with me forever" which would be an appropriate thing to be said at the moment. Perhaps Taylor meant to learned it for the movie. Do think this is the right translation?

Alice in Wonderland Trailer

The high anticipated Alice in Wonderland hits theaters March 5th, 2010. Michael Sheen, who plays Aro on the Twilight Saga: New Moon plays the White Rabbit in the movie. I love the Disney version of the movie when little because the main character and I shared the same first name (Yes, it is a poor reason to love a movie, but I was very young), and cannot wait for this movie! It will probably be on my number second of my favorite movies list of 2010 (Eclipse being first, I'm sure!). Don't miss it! The official trailer has been finally released, so now you can watch a sneak peek of the movie bellow in HQ.

Secrets of New Moon Revealed by Chris Weitz

So even if you've seen New Moon 25 times, you still may not have found all of the hidden little bonuses that are weaved into the film. Chris Weitz spilled the beans and let fans know where to find some great extras. This way the next time you see New Moon, (I know you'll see it again, it's okay we all will), you'll be able to pick out all the cool stuff that's hidden for you. Entertainment Weekly is teaming up the New Moon director to release five secrets a day.

When Carlisle burns the gauze from Bella's injury, if you look closely at the bowl you can see an upside-down,
engraved wolf. Also, there is a wolf on Jacob's t-shirt when he meets her in the parking lot and a small wolf on the dream-catcher he gives Bella too. In the scene where Alice, Edward, and Bella get in the elevator to see the Volturi, the song playing is from Strauss' Die Fledermaus (The Bat). The golden compass clipped to Bella's backpack in the scene where she looks for the meadow is actually part of Chris Weitz's baggage. Weitz used a trick in the argument scene between Bella and Edward where Rob was right next to the camera but out of sight, when his body double got out of the truck and Rob walks past the camera to make it seem that he is extremely fast.

This is the tricky part, because no one seems to have found the answer yet (I'm personally working on it myself as well). The scene where Jacob almost kisses Bella, he says something in Quileute to her, but it's never really been clear what he said. Chris Weitz would only say that the phrase is "Kwop Kilawtley." He also gives the address to the Quileute tribal council's website, though the translation doesn't seem to be apparent anywhere on the site. I'm checking into it myself and as soon as I can find a translation I'm sure is right it will be posted.

Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey Confirms 'Breaking Dawn' Movie

Edward and Bella's Wedding
In an article about Taylor Lautner for Variety magazine, the Producer of Twilight, Wyck Godfrey, confirmed that Breaking Dawn will be turned into a movie, but not in so many words. Referring to Taylor's upcoming project, an action role, he discussed the young star's schedule. He said that Lautner will be returning to his role of Jacob in Breaking Dawn starting in late 2010, and it is probable that the book will be divided into two movies that will shoot back-to-back. Variety is a credible magazine and it seems like Twi-hards can finally rest easy about whether Breaking Dawn is going to happen or not. It also seems that Stephenie Meyer may get her wish of seeing the books divided into two movies, although that's not been made positive at this point.

Lautner will be taking on an action role under his own company, Tailor Made Entertainment, with his father being one of the producers on the film. Taylor will be playing the hero again, utlizing his martial arts skills for the role as a college student who must save the day on a spring break trip gone bad.

The History of The Twilight Saga Part 2

Return to Part 1

The Big Screen
Stephenie released Eclipse on August 7, 2007 with 150,000 copies flying off the shelves the first day alone. The book hit #1 on both Wall Street Journal and USA Today's lists. Catherine Hardwicke, director of Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown, was chosen to direct the first movie in The Twilight Saga, and the casting calls began. On November 16, 2007, the first character for the film version of Twilight was chosen with Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, and on December 11, they finally found the chemistry they were looking for in the Edward/Bella relationship, with Robert Pattinson earning the role of Edward Cullen. By February 19, 2008, all of the Cullen coven had been chosen and shooting was ready to begin.

Stephenie Meyer was astonished by the young pair they had chosen to fill the shoes of the lovers from her dream, saying, "Suffice it to say, [Robert Pattinson] really nailed it. He’s not playing a version of Edward, he’s playing Edward. There is still quite a difference between Rob’s Edward and the Edward in my head, but there are moments when they look eerily similar. I’m still not sure how he does it, but I’m glad he can. As for emotions, I think he does a great job. Of course, a lot of the credit for this goes to Kristen as well. She contributes the other half of that Bella-Edward vibe so amazingly well. I’ve been on set through three movies now, and I still thank my lucky stars every day that she signed on to this franchise."

The Movie Saga
Excited fans were buzzing with anticipation to see Meyer's words from Twilight turned into a live action, more so after Breaking Dawn's release on August 2, 2008, and the release date for the movie was moved up, originally set for December 12, 2008 and moved up to November 21, 2008. While all of this was going on, Midnight Sun, a book that Stephenie had been working on in the Saga but had not completed, was leaked and on August 28, 2008, she was forced to acknowledge that leak. The day after Twilight was released it was announced that a New Moon movie was on the way, fans were ecstatic. December 13, Chris Weitz was announced as director for New Moon while fans were growing concerned that Taylor Lautner would not be allowed to return as Jacob Black for said movie. Luckily on January 7, 2009, fans' fears were relinquished when Lautner's position was confirmed by all the hard work he had done to pursue this more mature and buff Jacob, and March 16, 2009, shooting for the movie began.

Fans couldn't get enough with Stephenie Meyer's books flying off the shelves and the anticipation was building for another movie. Summit Entertainment obviously realized what they had stumbled upon and, after Twilight, had signed on for movies two and three. They released the Twilight DVD on March 21, 2009 and one month later they had found their director for Eclipse, David Slade. Eclipse began shooting August 18, 2009, shortly followed by the release of New Moon on November 20, 2009. Eclipse will be released June 30, 2010 with only one change in cast mates, Rachelle Lefevre was replace by Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria due to conflicts in Lefevre's schedule.

Midnight Sun and What's Ahead
Fans really just can't get enough with plenty of petitions going around for Meyer complete Midnight Sun, which Meyer says is Edward's version of Twilight but she's made it clear that, at this point in time, that's not a project she's looking to take on. She had this to say about it, "I am not working on Midnight Sun now, I don't have a plan for when I'll get to it; I don't know now what the right time for it will be. First, Midnight Sun is not finished and locked in a safe, waiting for me to be done angsting over the leak. If it were done, I would be throwing it on the bookstore shelves myself... Second, I am not upset about the leak, I haven't been for a long time... Third and most important, I am not trying to punish anyone, not the persons who leaked it, not the people who read the leak, nobody... I'll get back to Midnight Sun when the story is compelling to me again... I need to be alone with a story to write, and Midnight Sun feels really crowded, if you know what I mean."

One comment Meyer made that may give fans hope to hold on for a continuation in The Twilight Saga, when asked what profession she could see for Bella, had she ended up going to college. Meyer responded, "I always imagined that Bella would someday teach. She really admired that one part of Renee’s personality—Renee may be dippy, but she’s a great teacher and the kids love her—and I saw her taking her love of books in that direction. She would have taught older students, though. High school or college. Maybe she still will—in night school." Not a promise, by any means, but at least you know that she is still very interested in these characters.

Breaking Dawn
The next thing everyone is wondering about is Breaking Dawn and whether or not it will be turned into a movie like its three predecessors. When asked the question Stephenie Meyer responded, "At this point in time, we’re in talks. I would love to see [Breaking Dawn] made if it could be made well. It’s a little bit trickier than the others." With the way the book is written, being divided into Book One: Bella and Book Two: Jacob, it's understandable why Meyer would recommend that Breaking Dawn be broken down into two movies. There is so much that happens in the last book of The Twilight Saga, it seems it would be impossible to compact that into one movie without seriously taking away from the finale to a series that fans don't want to end.

I only see two ways for Breaking Dawn to go, two movies, or no movie at all. Obviously, it seems it would be a ludicrous idea for Summit Entertainment not to pick up the fourth movie in the series, but with each film, it's getting more complicated to work around everyone's schedules. Without this last film, fans would surely feel neglected due to a serious lack of closure for the on-screen run of The Twilight Saga. I feel like Summit Entertainment will follow through with the series to its completion and give fans what they're asking for, they're just building the suspense until everything is finalized.

New Moon Song Candidate for Oscar Nomination

new moon song candidate for oscarThe candidates for Original Songs have been unveiled by the Academy and yes you guessed it New Moon's Possibility by Lykke Li is on the list of candidates. Possibility is the song that is played when Bella enters her zombie-like-state after the Cullens leave.

"On January 12 the academy will screen clips featuring each song, in random order, for voting members of the music branch in Los Angeles. Following the screening members will determine the nominees by an average point system vote. If no song receives an average 8.25 vote or more there will be no nominees in the category. If only one song achieves that score, it and the next song receiving the highest score will be the two nominees. If two or more songs (up to five) achieve that score then they shall be the nominees."

With the Mega success of The Twilight Saga - New Moon to date, this would be another huge achievement, and one not altogether unassailable at this point.

The History of The Twilight Saga Part 1

So you've read The Twilight Saga books, you've seen Twilight and New Moon... probably multiple times, you've watched interview after interview with everyone involved, but did you ever wonder where the whole thing started? Stephenie Meyer, bless her heart, seems to be very happy to share just about everything with her fans, regardless of the certainly hectic schedule she has faced ever since the phenomenon started. She is a Brigham Young University graduate where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English. Stephenie dabbled a little into writing, but admits that she never got very far with any of her stories, anything she had written had ended up being only a few chapters. Once Meyer gave birth to her first child, writing went out the window completely for six years, until the day she woke up from a very lucid dream that she couldn't shake and Twilight was born.

The Dream
It was June 2, 2003 and Stephenie Meyer had just awoken from the image of a couple, one an average female human being, the other an absolutely gorgeous male with sparkling skin, a vampire. The twosome was lying in a meadow in a wooded area, discussing the extreme difficulty of their undeniable love for each other due to the vampire's lust for the scent of her blood and the instinct within him to kill her. Chapter 13 of Twilight is the closest transcript of that dream, according to Meyer. Stephenie was so moved by the dream that she didn't want to forget it, so she sat down at her computer and started writing the story of the couple from her dream simply calling them "he" and "she", pouring in as many of the details as she could remember. She quickly grew close to her characters and eventually they started becoming voices in her head, ideas flowing through her that even took a toll on her sleeping at night.

The Beginning of The Twilight Saga
Stephenie started from the scene in her dream, wrote out the end of the story from there, then went back and wrote the beginning until everything flowed together. Meanwhile, Meyer started searching for names for the characters and settings of her story. She found the name "Cullen" off of 17th Century tombstones in England, named Edward after romantic characters from Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen novels, came up with names for the other characters, and then she struggled to find a perfect fit for her leading lady. She tried on various names but nothing seemed to fit this girl's personality, so she gave her the name that she had been saving for the daughter she never had, Isabella. For some of the other characters she found inspiration closer to home with each of her sibling's names, Emily, Heidi, Paul, Seth, and Jacob, finding their way into the writing.

Stephenie needed a location that was known for being frequently rainy and she found it in the Olympic Peninsula. She Googled maps of the area and then focused on finding a rural, dense area when she stumbled across the tiny town of Forks, Washington. The images she saw from the Forks area only made her more giddy on how lucky of a finding she'd come across. In this same search, Meyer stumbled upon La Push and the Quileute tribe. Finding the tribe fascinating, she felt like she had to find a way to intertwine a few fictitious characters from this tribe into her story as well.

Getting Published
When Stephenie had finished writing Twilight, her big sister, Emily, encouraged her to send it off to some publishers. Meyer's younger sister, Heidi, also helped her out by suggesting a website for writers where she eventually stumbled across Writers House, the literary agency that referred her to Megan Tingley Books of Little, Brown, and Company. MT Books signed a deal with Stephenie Meyer and on October 5, 2005, Twilight was unleashed. Up to the point that MT signed Meyer, she had written 300 pages into a sequel, Forever Dawn, which ended up serving as a rough draft for Breaking Dawn in later years. The only problem was that her novel had unintentionally picked up a young adult audience and she realized that the themes in Forever Dawn, staged post Bella's high school years in a more mature point of the couple's relationship, were in fact going to be too grown up for the audience she'd drawn.

Meyer had written a number of epilogues once she finished the ending to Twilight, realizing she just wasn't ready to let go of Bella and Edward's story. With the deal signed, she began to mold a sequel more appropriate for the young adult audience, and that's when it hit her that Edward's character was going to leave, which is why she chose the title New Moon, referencing the darkest point in Bella's life, a night with no moon. Meyer actually had to put herself in Bella Swan's shoes and live through the pain that Bella would feel with Edward's absence, at times even writing through tears as real as any that Bella herself would have cried. With Edward gone, Jacob Black's character began to take on a frontal role that Meyer had not planned on when writing Twilight and she liked where it was going, so she went back during the editing of her first book and weaved Jacob and Billy more centrally into the story. The thing about Jacob that stuck with Stephenie was the life of his character and her favorite image from writing Twilight was the dream Bella had of him transforming into a wolf to protect her, although Meyer is adamant that she didn't plan on Jacob Black being a werewolf, it was just a subconscious way that Bella's mind articulated the situation of him protecting her.

The Big Screen
So with that visual image in mind from Twilight, Stephenie Meyer started seeing pieces falling in place like a puzzle. Jacob's "legends", the real-life Quileute legends, would be true and he would unfortunately suffer the downfall of that trait. Meanwhile, Twilight was receiving rave reviews, debuting at #5 on the New York Times Bestseller List, being voted "Best Book of the Year" by Publishers Weekly, and being chosen as one of the top ten young adult books of the year by the American Literary Association. New Moon made its launch on August 21, 2006 rocketing to #1 Bestseller and holding that position for 31 weeks straight. With Twilight's explosion into the scene, Hollywood had taken notice with Summit Entertainment picking the rights up to transform the books, while Meyer hunkered down for book three.

Peter Facinelli Talks 'Breaking Dawn'

While there is still no official word on whether Breaking Dawn will be turned into a movie yet, speculation has it being broken into two parts with Chris Weitz taking the helm. MTV spoke to Peter Facinelli at the Z100's Jingle Ball who told them "No we don't know anything yet" . "Usually the fans know before me, I've been combing the websites trying to find out if we're doing a fourth one. We'll see".

With New Moon being such a success there probably won't be an issue another flick green-lit but Facinelli insists that the cast is just really excited that New Moon was such a hit. "I haven't heard or seen [a script yet]. I think everyone is still on the New Moon high," he added, "and we're gearing up for Eclipse, I'm really excited about Eclipse. That's my favorite book."

So if and when Breaking Dawn starts filming, will it be split into two parts? Facinelli is fine with that. "I would love to see Breaking Dawn split into two because it is such a thick book" he said.

He also said that he would welcome back Chris Weitz as director if the studio says that's best. "I'd love to see Chris Weitz back" he said, "I don't know, I mean I know that he actually has another film he's doing right now, so your guess is as good as mine. I'm sure that they'll get someone very capable. I mean we've had some pretty fantastic directors so far."

Kristen MTV's #7 Woman of the Year

MTV has just named Kristen Stewart as their #7 top Woman of the Year. Congrats Kristen, you earned it girlfriend! We here at TwilightBlog are psyched to see Kristen make a leap in the public eye! MTV wrote that Kristen at:

"At 19 years old, she already has an amazing 23 films under her belt. Yet, Kristen Stewart entered 2009 with a lot of questions: Was "Twilight" a fluke? How would the notoriously press-shy starlet handle A-list fame? And would "New Moon" "kill" her, as she promised?"

{via MTV}

Rob is MTV's #6 Man of the Year

MTV has just made Robert Pattinson their #6 Man of the Year! Gotta love this, although I am thinking some people believe he should have wound up a little higher on this totem pole. MTV wrote:

"In 2009, all eyes were on RPattz. Despite only releasing one movie, there were few people whose face sold more magazines, whose every word made more of a ripple and whose public appearances caused such a stir. Under such pressure, a lot of 23-year-old actors would end up getting into trouble, indulging to the point of excess and disappointing their fans. But somehow, the uniquely suited-for-stardom Robert Pattinson took it all with a good-natured grin and self-deprecating charm. In "Twilight" and beyond, his future seems so bright that he'll likely be sparkling for quite some time."

The Twilight Saga's Affect on Popular Culture

the Ever since the release of the first novel Twilight in 2005, the series has gained phenomenal success worldwide. Originally read by young adults the story quickly garnered success amongst women the world over. As of november 2009 the books had sold in excess of 85 million copies worldwide with translations into at least 38 languages.

So what is the message in the saga? According to Stephenie Meyer, the Twilight Saga is about life, not death, it's about love, not lust. The biggest message by far in the series though would have to be free will. The freedom to choose where one's life path will lead. The vampires make the choice to not endanger human life by abstaining from human blood. Bella makes the choice of staying eternally with her vampire love. Perhaps the most interesting part of Twilight however is the monster becomes the protector, the monster who was never really a monster at all but only a self perceived one.

Then there is the influence on current trends. Twilight fasion, people wanting to capture the physical beauty of the vampires from the novels. There isn't only the superficial influence however. There has been a decided rise in the expectations of women in regards to men and relationships. There is just something about a man who treats a woman with respect and courtesy whilst actually being what's considered manly.

So has the Twilight Saga changed the view of pop culture as we know it. The answer? Unconditionally and irrevocably.
