'Twilight' Did You Knows: Bella's Wedding Dress

Hey Twi-Hards, as most of you know, leading up to the premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 1, I had a weekly post titled "Twilight Did You knows." So when I found these awesome facts the beautiful dress we all wish we could have, I knew that I had to bring it back!

Did you know...

1. Carolina Herrera designed the dress exclusively for Breaking Dawn Part 1 based on input from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon. They chose from ten sketches that Carolina Herrera created.

2. The dress was made by hand by Ms. Herrera and four seamstresses, and took a total of six months to complete.

3. The dress was custom fit precisely for Kristen Stewart.

4. The dress was created from crepe satin and French Chantilly lace.

5. 152 buttons line the back of the dress.

6. There are 17 buttons on each sleeve.

7. Herrera designed the back to be a surprise, considering it romantic. I'd say it's a pretty dramatic reveal in the movie!

8. The dress will be in Carolina Herrera's 2012 collection and available at CHNY boutiques.

9. The estimated value of the dress is a whopping $35,000.

10. Alfred Angelo will be selling replicas of the dress starting at $799 if you want the look for less. Big spenders could even get one to be the belle of the ball for a Twilight Convention!

KStew Moved When Trying on Bella's Wedding Dress

In a recent interview with Vogue UK, designer Carolina Herrera talks about designing the beautiful creation for Bella in Breaking Dawn Part One.

It took designer Carolina Herrera, and four seamstresses, over six months to make and was custom-made specifically for Stewart to wear in her on-screen wedding to her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Made using crepe satin and French Chantilly lace, the dress features 152 buttons on the back and 17 on each sleeve.

“In the initial fitting when Kristen put the dress on and looked
in the mirror, she was very moved,” the designer told us. ”In that moment she was not an actress or a character in a film, she was a bride, and a happy one at that. It is always very important to make the bride happy, of course, and in this case I was delighted to do so. It was a very special moment for both Kristen and the character of Bella to share.”
“I was of course inspired by Stephenie’s description of the gown in the book, but I added the touch of Herrera and also took into consideration the personality and the style of the bride,” said Herrera. ”A wedding dress is both an intimate and personal for a woman - it must reflect the personality and style of the bride. Bella’s dress is romantic and filled with a timeless sophistication, very similar to the character. In a way, this dress served as a symbol of the character’s coming of age and introduction into womanhood.”
“Being a big follower of The Twilight Saga, I was very flattered to be a part of this fantastic project,” she told us. “I read the books and saw the first film and have been a fan ever since. You can’t walk down the street and run into someone who doesn’t know what Twilight is anymore, whether it be the books or the movie. Our bridal collections always possess a timeless elegance and sophistication and I found the same elements in Stephenie Meyer’s descriptions of Bella’s dress.”

I must say, I loved the dress and it had to be prettier than I ever thought it could! Below are some more pictures of that unforgettable gown!

'Breaking Dawn' DVD/Blue Ray Details

Breaking Dawn Part 1 is killing it in theaters, smashing records left and right. Even with the film so fresh in theaters, Summit has released some information about the DVD and Blue Rays. They did not however give us a release date but did provide some useful info so we can make an educated decision when it comes time to pre-order.

I am sad to say that according to the information released yesterday, Bill Condon will be doing the commentary. Everyone knows that Robsten commentaries are always the most entertaining. I am hoping that may change and maybe they are planning to surprise us later on. The special features so far are as follows:

6-part Documentary
(viewable in both standard and PIP modes)

Bella and Edward's Personal Wedding Video
Becoming Jacob

Jump to...(character specific favorite scenes)

Audio Commentary with Bill Condon

I cannot wait to add this to my collection and obviously so I can watch it everyday :)

How many times have YOU seen Breaking Dawn Part 1?

Well it is official...I am hooked on this new addition to the Twilight Saga!  Breaking Dawn Part 1 has not only been one of the best movies in the series (arguably), but it has brought in the 2nd most money in the series.  Being one of the Twihards that were at the midnight showing, I cannot believe that New Moon brought in bigger numbers at the box office on it's opening weekend.  But still, I am proud that all of these movies have brought in big numbers and have broken records!  The fans of this series are remarkable.  To date, I have seen Breaking Dawn Part 1......5 times!  I know I am not the only one out there either!  Tell me...how many times have you seen it?  And what is your favorite part?  I have too many to tell about.  The worst part, however, is that we have to wait an entire year until the final chapter of this saga debutes!  Aaaahhhhh....I am already chomping at the bit to see it for the 6th time!  I pity my DVD when it comes in....I may have to order an extra copy to make sure I don't wear it out!

'Break Dawn: Part One' Breaks Records

Hey Twi-hards! As you know opening weekend for one of the best Twilight movies has come and past. But have you ever wondered what all these movies rank and which is the best/worst. Well we have all that information for you! Its pretty interesting!

The 3-day weekend gross was over $138M, making it the 5th-highest ever. The 2nd-highest last weekend was Happy Feet 2, which made $21M during the same period.

Breaking Dawn Joins 3-Day Weekend Hall of Fame

Breaking Dawn Part 1 replaced Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on the list of the Top 5 highest-grossing movies ever for 3-day domestic weekend totals. Here’s the new Top 5-

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part IIwith $169,189,427 on 4,375 screens ($38,672 screen average) – Released July 15, 2011, $125M Production Budget
  2. The Dark Knight with $158,411,483 on 4,366 screens ($36,283 screen average) – Released July 18, 2008, $185M Production Budget
  3. Spider-Man 3 with $151,116,516 on 4,252 screens ($35,540 screen average) – Released May 4, 2007, $258M Production Budget
  4. New Moon with $142,839,137 on 4,024 screens ($35,497 screen average) – Released November 20, 2009, $50M Production Budget
  5. Breaking Dawn: Part 1 with $138,122,261 on 4,061 screens ($34,012 screen average) – Released November 18, 2011, $127.5M Production Budget
  6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest with $135,634,554 on 4,133 screens ($32,817 screen average) -Released July 7, 2006, $225M Production Budget

For comparison, Eclipse made $120,898,294 and Twilight made $69,637,740 during the first 3 days of release. But that’s not all!

Twilight Saga Tops November Movie History

The Twilight Saga now holds the top two spots for the top-grossing weekends in November ever, with New Moon and Breaking Dawn Part 1 at #1 and #2 respectively. #3 through #6 go to Harry Potter films, and #8 is the original Twilight.

Breaking Dawn Joins the $100 Million Club

Breaking Dawn Part 1 is one of only six movies that have ever made more than $100M in 2 days. Only five other films hold that honor-New Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II,Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Spider Man 3, and The Dark Knight.

Twilight Saga Takes 3 of 5 Spots on 1-Day Total List

Three of the four Twilight Saga films now reside on the list of the highest-grossing movies during a 1-day period. Here are the new top five-

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II – $91,071,119
  2. The Twilight Saga: New Moon – $72,703,754
  3. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 – $71,642,526
  4. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – $68,533,840
  5. The Dark Knight – $67,165,092

Twilight, Eclipse, New Moon & Breaking Dawn 5-Day Totals

Here are the US box-office totals for the first 5 days of release for The Twilight Saga films released so far:

  • Twilight: $80,165,620
  • New Moon: $164,674,318
  • Eclipse: $157,577,169
  • Breaking Dawn Part 1: $158,978,162

Breaking Dawn Worldwide Gross

If all these numbers aren’t enough to impress, don’t forget the rest of the world!

Internationally, Breaking Dawn Part 1 has already scored $144M overseas, making the 5-day total across the globe a jaw-dropping $302,978,162!

Twilight and Harry Potter

No matter the numbers, it’s clear the fans love the movie and that is what matters. But the numbers are fun to keep an eye on.

I wonder if Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be able to grab the top spot from Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part II next year? Note that Deathly Hallows I isn’t even in these lists, so perhaps the “Part 2″ has some pull.

What do you think about the numbers for Breaking Dawn Part 1 and what’s your prediction for Part 2? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE: These numbers are particularly striking as Breaking Dawn Part 1 didn’t benefit from the higher ticket prices of 3D and IMAX likeDeathly Hallows II– “with the exception of Eclipse, every Twilightfilm was released WITHOUT 3D and IMAX so to make that much without extra charges is amazing. Let it be known that New Moon andBreaking Dawn have the biggest opening ever for a non 3D or IMAX film as well!”

Awesome!! Wow I'm impressed! How many of you are going to see it again? I know I'm going to have to!

Marry Robert Pattinson? Yes, Please!

Madame Tussauds Robert
Hey all you Edward Cullen/ Robert Pattinson fans. What would you do if you could stand in Bella's place and marry the man of everyone's dreams? Well you can!

In celebration of this year's most exciting wedding, Madame Tussauds New York is offering all of us Twilight fans a chance to say "I Do" to the Robert Pattinson wax figure. Last Friday (opening day), November, 18th, the weddings began!

It has only been my dream ever since the movies came out to marry this man, so I may need to take a trip to "meet" the man of my dreams!

Madame Tussauds New York invites guests to try on veils and pose next to Robert. Rob will be dressed in black trousers and a fitted shirt. A jacket in a contrasting color finishes off his handsome look! Don't forget the hair! Each strand was inserted one-by-one by the Tussauds studio artists. They spent hours upon hours studying photos and watching video footage of Pattinson to create this incredibly lifelike figure!

Don't wait too long because this groom is going to be snatched up fast! Head to Madam Tussauds New York at 234 West 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues in Manhattan and have the wedding of your dreams!

We would love to see pictures of your "big day" with Edward/Robert and we'll post them here in the blog! Send all pictures to TwilightBlog.net@gmail.com and check back to see if your wedding pictures made it on the Twilight Web! I can hear the wedding bells now!

'Breaking Dawn': Pros & Cons

One of my friends wrote this up, thought you all might be interested to read and discuss it! Enjoy.

Pros:

- The action scenes are decent. It doesn't look forced. I could feel the tension between the vampires and werewolves, and the thrill of chasing your quarry through the forest is something that I've always enjoyed.

- The love story. I believe that many people can identify with Bella's struggle. Take away the fact that one is a werewolf and the other is a vampire, and you've got a drama that many people face on a daily basis. Edward, the nice guy, loves her. Jacob, the more demanding and pessimistic one, loves her as well. She can see the positives and negatives in both of them. You're lying to yourself if you've never felt like there were two people who were totally different but you liked them, regardless.

- The plot is somewhat refreshing. It's not mindless violence. It's the pride and desire for both kinds to be dominant. The vampires want a place to call "Home". The werewolves believe that the Vampires are a curse and an eyesore. In turn, the vampires don't like the werewolves because of their "bullying", for lack of a better term. Some of the vampires also throw a type of third faction in the mix, making for an interesting war of sorts.

Cons:

- The acting. It isn't the best in the world. I usually find myself emotionally attached to good drama, but I can do little more than identify with Bella's situation because of how poorly their intensity is executed. Edward could serve to be a bit more enigmatic in character. He could also use a bit of backbone when in scenes that involve Bella's protests. But he gives in far too easily, and far softer than a vampire should.

- The scenery. People are idiots for not realizing that they're vampires. Could have been executed far better to at least bring more of an edgy feel to the movie. Things flow way too smoothly for vampires, humans, and werewolves coexisting so closely. Has no one noticed how convenient it is for Edward to be around, or how Jacob is always hot to the touch? Red flag, anyone?

- The books. Don't get me wrong - they're decent. But I would rather read the book than watch the movie. I think that it's a unique spin to add the "sparkle" factor to the vampires. Every movie has done vampires the same way. I found myself saying "Huh. Something new." when Edward revealed his skin to the sunlight. No one said anything about it being how true or false vampires are supposed to be. They simply introduced a characteristic that they wanted. I can understand that it was unsettling to vampire lovers, but it wasn't as big a deal as people made it. If all you see is a glittering vampire and suddenly hate the movie? Then in my opinion, you're limiting yourself.

Overall - I'd give the movie an 8 out of 10. It's not the best movie in the world, but it definitely isn't the worst. Watch a movie like "Hissss" on Netflix, and I guarantee you'll want to go back to Twilight. Or even "Stripperland", for that matter. All in all, it serves its purpose. It doesn't claim to be Queen of the Damned or Interview with a Vampire, so I believe that people should stop trying to compare them like they are.

'Twilight' Did You Knows?

Hey Twilighters! Today is the day!!! I'm sure some of you were wondering where this weeks Twilight Did You Knows were, but I wanted to save these Did You Knows for the best day this week. Hopefully today's Did You Knows get you excited for the premiere tonight!

Did you know...

1. According to Bella and Edward's wedding invitations, the address of the Cullen residence is listed as 420 Woodcroft Avenue, Forks, WA. (Let's all visit!)

2. Robert Pattinson went through a strict diet and exercise regime for six months in preparation for filming Breaking Dawn. He stopped his routine after filming the much-talked-about sex scene.

3. Kristen Stewart said her and Taylor Lautner were in tears when the cast watched an unfinished cut of Breaking Dawn.

4. The Twilight movie was shot in 48 days.

5. Nikki Reed was the one who got the producers to add Robert Pattinson's song to the film.

6. Cam Gigandet was originally cast as Emmett Cullen in Twilight but he asked director Catherine Hardwicke if he could play the role of James instead. She agreed.

7. There were censors required in Eclipse that the wolves have no genitalia whenever they appear on screen.

8. Each member of the wolf pack had to have papers proving their native descent.

9. Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius) originally auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen.

10. When Jacob is fixing Bella's motorbike in his garage in New Moon, a wolf print is shown on the back of his t-shirt.

Rob & Taylor Break Down 'Breaking Dawn'

Breaking Dawn press junkets travel overseas to the UK. Rob and Taylor give the run down of Breaking Dawn in a short minute and according to Taylor, the werewolf could not be more displeased with the outcome. Too funny!

Rob also informs us that the sex scene originally showed a little butt, but sadly ladies that part has been edited out. Rob couldn't be more thrilled since he was super uncomfortable about it. Not only was he uncomfortable showing his butt, but he doesn't even like the word butt!

'Twilight'Trio Shines in London For 'Breaking Dawn' Premiere

After an awesome premiere Monday in LA, the Breaking Dawn stars headed across the pond to give UK fans some love. Rob, Taylor, Kristen, and other cast members walked the white carpet to pose for thousands of pics and sign autographs for fans who have been waiting days for their arrival. These guys are so great to this fandom!

I seriously think the trio coordinate their ensembles before events because they are always so matchy matchy. Rob and Taylor looked dapper in dark suits, while Kristen steamed up the white carpet in a smoking hot, black Roberto Cavalli gown. Her SWATH long locks were in a messy up-do flowing down her back and her makeup was natural and simple but absolutely gorgeous. She has really grown up fashion wise and has easily shifted from edgy rocker to a sexy and elegant woman.

Breaking Dawn UK Premiere

The Twilight Trio, Taylor, Kristen, and Rob, quickly jetted off to London after the premiere of Breaking Dawn in LA Monday night. Tonight the three will be dazzling us once again on the red (or black) carpet for the UK premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 1.

I must say that the LA premiere was my favorite of all. These guys are getting so good with the press and they are amazing to their fans. In LA, the three of them showed up an hour and a half earlier just to make sure they had time to sign for the fans. They are the most gracious young actors in Hollywood today, in my opinion.

Hopefully tonight Kristen will definitely be walking the red carpet with her cast members. She had not been slated to attend, but rumor has it, she will be there. She is still in London tolling away on her latest film, SWATH. Another movie I am too excited for!

Couldn't catch a plane across the pond, but wanna see your favorite stars? LoveFilm.com will be hosting a LIVE stream of the event here.

Midnight tomorrow is so close I can smell it! Cannot wait!
